daffs - well done!! Sounds like fun but knackering

westie, fingers crossed there is good news on your eye

we have had a couple of nights away without the kids near Whitby to celebrate our 17th anniversary. Had a really long walk over moors yesterday, a strong wind up on the moors made that shattering but we had a lovely time

westie - we went on holiday to Gairloch a few years ago - beautiful area.

trying to get my 16 year old son to revise for his GCSEs isn't easy....

Goodly morning Great photos Podds. The cat thinks they're fake news but then she voted for Brexit so what does she know!? Intrepid adventurer Daffers. I would expect nothing less. I have pumped the tyres on my bike. I am feeling almost as accomplished. I am on a train. I am back at work for a day to go to a colleagues leaving do. Other than that I have been on leave and will be again tomorrow. So far I have celebrated my Hawaii birthday. We went to London and had a ver

Doh! I was thinking 49th state! (but Google says its the 50th - is that why it's Hawaii 5-0??? Educational on here innit!)
Pippette has taken Mr P out for his 60th birthday present - a beer tasting masterclass. I'm the taxi as I don't like beer!

Evening all, Pippi - yes, that is why it was Hawaii 5-0! Daffs, your cycle ride sounds like a real adventure. I hope your nether regions are not too sore now. DL, I'm glad to hear that your birthday celebrations are on-going. A big birthday like that warrants at least a week of parties :) Still having problems with my comp not recognising the wifi. Think it will have to go to the mendypeeps. We were supposed to have exchanged contracts for the house move yesterday. Then had a call from our conveyancers at around 4pm to say that our vendors hadn't even signed their yet! They were supposed to have an appointment with their solicitors at lunchtime today to sign and then we could still exchange before the weekend. We had not heard from our conveyancers by the end of the afternoon today, so it looks as if exchange did not happen. Does anyone else smell something fishy?? Hope everyone has a lovely weekend. WAIST well xxx

slugs - how annoying, fingers crossed for you, although I guess you won't hear anything now till at least Tuesday because of the bank holidays

slept badly last night and done hardly anything today, was just feeling a bit more like going for a run or something (maybe it was the chocolate I just ate) but now it is chucking it down and I will have to cook for the kids soon.....

had a great run with the club last night though :) 2 days in a row I have averaged 11:30 min miles - that is very very speedy for me! My garmin race predictor thinks I can do a sub 2 hour half marathon - maybe I should try training properly and see if it comes true!!

((((podds and family))) so sorry to hear your news. try to take care of yourself amongst everything else going on. Know that WAISTer arms are around you. Hope those lovely boys of yours are ok xx

Daffy, that is one big adventure and I am very impressed. It certainly wasn't straightforward or easy and that's just the public transport. Hope you managed a good sleep and feel recovered.

MC nothing wrong with 11.30 minute miling  :)

DL, I always thought you were older than me. How disappointing for me but good to hear you survived and have center Parcs to  look forward to. Isn't center Parcs and look forward to an oxymoron  :D

Oh sluggy. That's a bit odd with your vendors. Mind you many hundreds oh years ago when we bought this house when we finally moved in the vendors said they'd been told we were holding everything up which was blatantly untrue as we'd been ready to move for months. Fingers and toes crossed all sorts itself out.

Have you seen the pics of her Royal M.......eldyness in Devon ? She, looks... she looks almost human :D

20 miles is fantastic, Mrs farfar.  Good to hear that the knee feels ok even if its a bit waterlogged. I think it can take months for fluid to disperse but you'd best ask nurse Ratchett

Westie, your eye sounds a bit of a worry to you. Understandably so as our eyesight is so important. Hope the appointment hurries along and you get sorted. I must go and look at scotts latest adventures. The last one was amazing  :)

Pippi, you lucked out there if you don't like beer. I hope Pippette doesn't get him too drunk :-)

Ran a practise my leg of the team Roach Valley relay last night with two run chums. 7 miles cross country navigating by written instructions and cycled 20 miles MTB/road today. The behaviour of pedestrians and drivers pretty poor. Almost home when I checked, stuck my arm out to turn right, waited in the middle of the road to let an oncoming motorcycle pass only to be overtaken by a car from behind. Work not looking easy.  Good boss moving on.  Most of prospective replacements far less experienced than me (one is a team mate).  Having discussed my concerns with two of them I was shocked by their apparent naivety/lack of understanding of their responsibilities. It will be nothing short of miraculous if most of the candidates can do the job without significant impact on me.  With promotions and redundancies ( it's location redundancy ) over half of the team are going. I'm not always the most resilient person so chose my mental health well-being over £3000 extra a year and promotion However I cover for outgoing boss at mo as most experienced in team. Any ideas how to avoid being dumped on and having the additional work/responsibility and supporting new boss while not being paid or recognised for it but getting the stress.
I may need to become less capable and keep plenty of evidence.  Sad as have been happy there for the last few years but a move of specialism may be necessary.

morning to all the Easter bunnies .
Podds sorry to read about your dad so lots of hugs ((((((())))))))))))))))))

well done on the bike ride daffs a bit more swimming and you can do next years ironman with M..eldy.

Yums hope the work situation sorts it's self out for you and you don't get stressed out too much .

DL you are you really reached that great age of enlightenment where life truly begins  B)

I'm still not up to much but did find some old vhs tapes in the loft of highland walks and climbs with a very young Scott. I dug out the old player and managed to get it all working
and although the quality is crap it reminded me of all the fun we both had and still do in a way. It was strange seeing this man with black hair back packing up the hills with a 11 year old Scott. Still reflecting on last years treks in France and Spain and have to remind myself how lucky I am at this age to be capable of the odd adventure. Great to have videos of the journeys and have to admit Scott and I sit and watch them over when rest of family have gone to bed . :D

Morning and Happy Easter to all,

((((((Podds)))))) I echo the plea to look after yourself.

Westie, how lovely to have found the old videos of you and Scott - but sobering to realise the changes that time has wrought.

Mc, it's good to hear you sounding a bit more energetic.

Yums, worrying times for you - again! I hope everything works out well.

SM was very sleepy again yesterday. In fact, she was asleep all the time we were there, so we left her to it. It is very hard to see how quickly she has deteriorated - at Christmas she was still mobile and in her own home (albeit with a lot of help)  :(

We are in limbo at the moment, waiting til Tuesday to hear what is happening regarding the house move. Frustrating as we cannot arrange movers etc until we know for sure.

Hope everyone is having as god a weekend as possible.

    WAIST well xxx

nice bling there Melds - I saw your piccies on FB - very glam!

oh Sluggy - I hope the house move goes through soon, so stressful! which is why Mr FF says he will never move again. SM does seem to have deteriorated very quickly :( but I'm sure you are relieved that she is well cared for and not unhappy - that is the best we can hope for really

talking of which my Mum is in good form, I really thought she had limited time left at Christmas but she seems a lot stronger and more alert lately so on it goes...

Yums I can understand your position - I would not apply for my boss's job if he left despite my experience, but that also means that when someone else takes the position you need to stand back and make sure they take the responsibility that goes with the job

I've enjoyed having the extra days off over easter, not done a great deal but some extra running, extra visit with Mum, and a lot of eating - working part time would suit me :)

I've been to the tip today ....when I tel them this at work the usual response is ....'did you get anything nice?'

    Morning all,

FarFar and Meldy, have you two thought of entering a 3 legged race together?  :D

Jenni, I'm glad that you got to spend some extra time with your mum over Easter. Even more glad that she was in good form. SM was bright and responsive when we visited on Monday, in stark contrast to how she was the previous week or two.

Our house move has turned into a nightmare! Our buyers mortgage offer expires on 28th April. Our vendors have decided to get a valuation survey of their new place done and won't exchange until that has been completed. Chris and I are pretty much ready to say 'stuff it' and walk away - we don't have to move and are happy where we are (for the time being). The only thing stopping us is the fact that our vendors have waited 6 months for us  . . .

Thinking of Podds and her family and sending lots of ~~~~

    (((WIN)))

    WAIST well xxx

Oh Sluggy that does sound like a nightmare ...keeping it all firmly crossed for you

Farty, I am sure there is a medical reason there somewhere but it's beyond me at the moment. Did my second tip run today so that's the 'yard' clear for the first time in 2 years, now it's time to get off my backside and do some swim/bike/run  :)

    Evening all

(((((((Podds and pa))))))) hope you're coping. All positive thoughts and vibes directed to you and yours.

((((Sluggie)))) how frustrating! Moving is a nightmare as, it would appear, is not moving!

(((((Yums)))) hope work settles into something sensible. I have a new boss. There always seems to be the phase of 'making a name', stirring things up and changing perfectly good systems for the sake of it.

Nice bit of bling there Meldy. Also, nice bit of bin.

    Hope the knees drain soon.

We had a good time at Center Parcs, along with hordes of middle class families. I felt we were lacking a Toby, a Chloe and the accompanying designer gear. However we persevered. We avoided infection at the submission tropical paradise. We rode our bikes, played badminton and even tried archery. XFC was in a good mood and so it was all rather jolly. We have subsequently had a major strop so all is back to normal.

I am back at work. Down in Dartmoor and managed a very nice walk on the way down yesterday.

Hope all is sunshine and rainbows with you - failing that, hope there's a bit of joy with your name on it.

oh DL I totally know where you re coming from with new bosses - always the same, "look at me with my brilliant new ideas" - yeah yeah

oh Sluggy what a pain in the arris! trouble is if it doesn't happen this will put you off moving for life!

I am so fed up with work this week, hoping to get out on time to get to running club but I've been late every day this week so far - grrrr
