Hi Billy Whizz, I use one of the Nike armbands to hold the Ipod in place when I run and can't see the screen at all. I rely on the audio to keep track of my progress, I quite like the voice as it relays the information. The good news is my foot seems recovered and hopefully I'm going to make a return to running very soon! By the time I clock up my fisrt few miles in over 5 weeks, I should think Mrs M will just be crossing the finnish line!
Hey, Lobsterboy! at least the Nike+ and this forum is motivating you(us), just think what it would be like without it and no forum to talk to others!!!
I also use the Nike armband, i think its better not looking at the screen, before i got it i would take it out of my pocket to peek at the screen! I like it now you can press the center button at anytime during the run and find out details etc...
And hey, keep up the good spirits, I look forward to you getting back into it.....
Has anyone else seen this web site - it lets you plot your runs etc onto a map and share them. Might be quite a good way to find runners near you if people start using it?
Hi Jabbasoft, just had a look at the wikiwalki site. Seems a good idea, share some routes. There's a route there on Hayling Island which is only about 20 mins away from me.
That site looks good. There's nothing near me at the moment but I think it could be great for finding runs on holiday. I usually use www.gmap-pedometer.com to plan my long runs (sorry can't do linky thing) but it looks as though I could use this instead and then save them for any other poor sod who might need them.
I checked out Nike+ saturday to see where i was (tommygun) and thought i may catch up with Mrs M soon, then after my run sunday I found that she has taken off again!!!
This means i have to still catch up (which is good really, gives us all something to aim for)
Mrs M, good luck with your training, keep it up your doing great!!!
Thanks BW - I'm training on my own so its really nice to have some encouragement:5 weeks and 6 days to go!
Brizo - great news about the knee. Tri?! You must be mad )))
Dale - any progress with your injury?
Steaders - great that you're off the starting blocks. If its any consolation I've got three more weeks of hard training and then a taper so my mileage will be coming down soon. I don't normally run that much!
Thanks for asking. Still waiting to see consultant at hospital.
Tried a short run last night (just 15mins) before going to the gym and was quite pleased. Still hurt, but not so bad.
Should be doing a 10k on Sunday (1st Oct). I may give it a go, treat it as a training run (if it hurts - STOP)and not be to bothered about time.
7 mile multi-terrain race on 15th Oct. mainly grass with is good, and a really good looking race called the suicide six(ish) in Nov. if I am still with the walking.
May be able to do these with the help of a strong knee support. My own GP says its ok to run, but if it starts to hurt I must pull out.
I did a very slow 3.5 miles tonight (quite happy) in 30mins. It's like starting all over again. Anyway, knee is a little sore but held up ok. I should be ok to do the 10k on Sunday, even if I do it as a training run. Not bothered if I come in last, just want to make the trip and take it from there. Loads of ice and stretches.
As I ran tonight I wondered if any of you fellow 'nike+ challenge' buddies would be or have been in any races with me. We run together with our challenge but do any of us live in the same area ?
I live in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands. Where are you ?
All this running, my knees are getting sore...can anyone help or give me a hint on what i should/could possibly do - i was wondering about taking some GLUCOSAMINE SULPHATE or something similar, but im not sure about dosage, i dont want to over do it???
Hi Georgies, I'm sure everyone here welcomes you, it seems we are a diverse bunch and all at varying levels of speed and experience. The more the merrier in my opinion, the Nike plus challenges are a great motivator so get stuck in!
Thanks for the welcome Zaclob/Steaders I'm up for the Nike challenge excellent idea, I've logged on. I hear a time challenge might be next???!!!
Billy Whizz - Glucosamine is excellent. My sister is a physio and insists we all take it 1000mg a day. Healthy Direct is an excellent web-site that stocks 1000mg tabs and is cheap as chips (in comparison to places like Boots etc). Happy shopping!!
Yep Glucosamine plus Chondritin is good stuff, I recommend Healthy Direct to

Went out on my first run in nearly 4 weeks only did a 5k just to see if my knee was ok and it was. Cool
Anyway
got home threw my kit in the wash and realized my nano was rapped up in my shorts pocket!!!!
was jumping around for the whole 40 wash cycle. When it fnished i took it out and put it on the window to dry out.
IT STILL WORKS!!!!
been using it for the past 3 days and its grand. Charges ok. even the earbuds are ok.
all i can say is amazing
What ever you have found this week, can I have some of it.
Mended your knee and your ipod. Wow
Sounds just what I need !!!!!!!!

Let us see what the specialist says !!!!
Hope you get to see the specialist soon. I suppose if your GP is a runner they'd know what they were talking about.
Fingers crossed for your 10k on Sunday.
