First check back in a while, great to see so many intending on signing up for 2013. Shaping up to be a great choice for cherry popping. Has anyone been given the heads up when entry opens? Given the high profile of our Olympic success, can we expect this to sell out quicker this year?
My Dad was talking to my wife, and the phone was on loudspeaker. There is a point in life when you know that you have pushed a boundary. He said.. "Can't you persuade him to just do marathons?"

I made the mistake of telling my mother that i intend doing the Out Laws next year.
"you'll die, you are nearly 50 you will never do the training, think of your children"
I said ok mum You said that about the first marathon I did. I have now done seven and by the end of the year it will be 8 or 9.
Oh she said in that case I don't want to hear about it, it will make me worry.....
Has anyone else had this sort of reaction
my folks think it's great, this tri lark, they treat it as a good excuse for a family outing. I never have to plead with them to baby sit the kids and they are great support crew!!
Echo that - been thinking that I'll be doing my HIM on my own next weekend ... Although I can see the positive in only having myself to think about on the day ...
In a way, I think it would be a pain if the kids were there as they would just moan and wind me up before the start, and then at the end moan about how long it took me etc! I always go to the loo a few times before the start as well (I am sure this is a psychological thing not a real physical need) and I am sure the eldest would comment on it!
Yep - that's pretty much how it'll be for me, except my partner would be landed with it then I'd have to worry about her having to cope with them as well
you'll be fine as that is about right for last long session, presuming that Outlaw is your A race and treating the HIM as a training session!
As for the support even the OH comes to the tri's I do and he doesn't,secretly I think he just likes to have a laugh at my expense. I always support him, it is a good excuse for a weekend away
Re: support - it turns out my family are supporting me next weekend after all!!
Mmm - now I have to work out how to make life straightforward for them on the day, but I think I'd rather have to worry about that than do it on my own -
MC and EP - is it worth asking if any of your friends might come along? I did have a pal from my running club offer to come if my family weren't. Maybe some people like to be on their own to concentrate ... ?
Wonder if VLM results will be out before registration opens for outlaw. i've decided to deffer if i do get a VLM place this year and focus on outlaw as being my A race.
brit - I think I am used to doing stuff on my own anyway. However, at my next tri someone from the tri club is doing one in the same place the next day and is camping over so she said she was going to get there in time to watch me

very pretty pictures
doesn't seem to be much difference in the finishing times across the ages
Will - those stats are ace....
oops, did I kill it!
The red diamond next to where it says "fast and even" that's me (not fast or even)
"Rode to slow" - rode as fast as I could.
phew.....
Entries open in Sept I think....
Thank you again for completing our survey. We value and appreciate your input.
You have now automatically been entered into the prize draw for a free place in the 2013 Outlaw.
I really hope I don't win that!
I've just been on to page 1 of this thread, followed a link and typed the following into a blank box.
"Please enrol me for pre-registration in Outlaw 2013."
That doesn't commit me to doing anything does it?
Phew, I thought that Barley or Schmunkee might add me on to a list or summat.
The outlaw training will commence nov/dec

my missus didnt like the sound of the Desert Races on limited water rations, she normally just laughs, this time she looked genuinely worried
You can run, but you cannot hide
PS Good luck for Sunday
You haven't seen me (try to) swim. I really do sink very well.

postie - you are lucky - my family are not interested and my parents think it is very odd all this exercise!
MC - maybe we should support each other ...?!?
brit - I will support you virtually!!

I've pre-registered going long next year then.
Now all I need to do is learn to swim, ride and run. Can't be too hard can it?
Oh - can i get the 'piratey' bit up there too please? ^^^^^
