See ya sunday HeOw. Only got picked for the NORTH WALES team havent I for the stockport 10miler on Dec 9th. Hallebloodyluja. This is what all them crappy winter training days are for.
Not sure matti it was the club session it was so the recoveries are allways very generous but I was just pressing lap at the start and end of each interval so glancing at my watch at the end of one of the recoveries an it sayin 4mins made me think bloody hell. On my tuesday session i'd only have a 1:15 recovery tops.
Thats possibly a downside because 2back 2 back marathons would leave a teeny weeny bit of tiredness, and even possibly an injury. Helsby is a corker to be fair
Yeah, TBH Andy I think one race will just make an intersting/ fun training run that time of year whereas I think if I tried both races it could well seriously affect my training well into Febuary. Not worth the risk IMHO.
hi HeOw, neither north or south, pretty much in the middle, I am in lincolnshire, and further to my 10k endeavours, I have been thinking about it and dont really think I am built for a quick 10k, so will concentrate on half and full marathons.
Hang on hang on hang on; Gaz, what's all this about marathons at New Year?!
Scott, get some 1km-1 mile intervals in at 5k-10k pace, that would do the trick (if you are not already). I actually think that I couldn't get my 5 or 10k times down any easier by doing specific training, I'm a definite advocate of endurance training and a tempo a week with an interval session when you can, will stand me in good stead. Unless I wanted to run for Team GB, I'd rather do what I enjoy and just hope it helps with shorter races.
Mattl - really??!! Blooming heck. How's the foot by the way? You made a definite decision re marathon?
Jason, Jason, Jason, I have just spent 10 mins pondering whether you would suit a racing snood (I imagined it was a racing green one). Then, the penny dropped... Yes, I imagine racing it would be ok? You aren't exactly a novice at the running shit.
Mish, I shall see you in the glamour pool of Stockport!
Hey Sir John, did the Oldham 1/2M year 2000. Remember it as very hilly and very satisfying. Tough course but had one epic battle during our club run. Look forward to your feedback.
Heow - yes, I ran the length of the Leeds to Liverpool canal (128 miles) over 5 consecutive days for charity. The longest day being 30 miles and the shortest being 22.
My foot is on the mend thanks. I managed a track session on Thursday and I managed a decent run outdoors yesterday. Not completely out of the woods yet as i can still feel it (only ever so slightly) but hopefully my scan in two weeks will reveal all. Definitely on the way back though.
I think I'm going to go for Manchester next year. It's on my birthday too.

Jason, I hope you've hung it in the downstairs bog so every bugger can see it who visits you. You're on a 6 week taper aren't you? I forgot!
12x 800 in 2:37 tonight
Andy - great news!
Just found my next marathon:

Just the New Years Eve one and do it as a steady long run rather than a race.
If I did that I'd probably have to miss Helsby Half!!

you lot still going on here ha ha
I'm doing Stockport 10, it would be nice to extend my forum friends
HeOw - totally agree re: 10K training
5m jog tonight and the combo of massage and rest is starting to work- piriformis is loosening up and my legs are beginning to feel like my own.
Even starting to toy with the idea of RACING Snod, rather than just going along for the ride....

HeOw- LOL! It's just that running eyeballs out= extra recovery time afterwards= delayed return to base= delayed return to hard training.....
Good luck to all racing! Look forward to the reports
Oldham Half Marathon on Sunday, any other takers ?
