There's 2 places for VLM with club, so will see if that comes to anything, if not Manny marafon for me too. Scott, go for it, if only so you can be an extra in my race photos...
The recovery continues here- left glute still a bit tight, but managed 12.01m in the sun this morning in a steady 1.24.06 splits: 7:22 7:28 7:15 7:09 7:07 7:05 7:06 6:45 6:47 6:45 6:40 6:35 2 Off to do some more stretches now Hopeful that it will have loosened off by Saturday- ready for me to inflict untold damage from a severe hill bashing....
Just got back from Oldham Half, what a wonderful race, along with Rivington, the toughest half I've ever done, 348 metres of climbing and the hills kept coming. Weather was perfect. I'd imagine on a wet day, may be different.
For £14, you get an outstanding race tech t-shirt, tea and coffee laid on then, a free buffet afterwards. Compared with your bigger races, like WIlmslow (which I do every year) this was such good value.
I went out chasing a PB (1.37) but on such a hilly course, was never going to happen. Ended up with 1.43 and was chuffed with that. Suffered no ill effects from Chester, looking forward to Tatton Half in a couple of weeks.
Cheers guys for advice - am going to see how it is on Saturday with light jog on treadmill - if OK will try a longer run Sunday and see. If not ood then will follow your thoughts and rest for full 10 days and then try again.
BTW Stafford 20 miler had been confirmed for 10th March 2013. Great race to see where you are in training before a Spring marathon.
just looking at a 20miler race for next year as i'm doing a spring marathon now I live about 45mins from Stafford but do you think i can find any information about it
i've found a website but it doesnt give me much info anyone done this before, whats it like I know the date obviously
does it have a medal hahaha well i have got my user name to protect!!!!
Gaz, Wilmslow is flat, slightly up last mile or so, but definitely a PB course. 1st half I did, really good run, great organisation, tad expensive, but a great race. Got unfinished business there as 3 years ago, hit the wall at mile 10, never happened before or since, really odd, felt dizzy and started taking top off, bizarely, last 2 years been injured and had to pull out. Want to do it this year to put some demons to rest
8.01m of confidence restoring running this evening. Easy pace run in the dark with a couple of miles at pMP (not Snod mp!) thrown in and it felt oh so smoooooth 8.01 m in 55.21. Splits: 7:53 7:40 7:02 6:54 6:53 6:09 6:11 6:35 3
That's it for me except a couple of short recovery runs before the off on Saturday
I'm still up and down. Had decent 10 milers Friday and Sunday but had a struggle doing 11 miles today. One of those runs that I knew was going to be hard as soon as I started running, the legs just didn't want to know.
Jason - good luck matey! Am definitely going to consider doing Snowdonia next year, it appeals to me. However, I don't think the local 500ft hill big enough to train on so would need to get myself up some mountains in Wales first.
Wrexham is a good flat half which I think is in Feb?
Fell over on my run before. F*cked my toe up, knee is gashed as is hand and elbow. However, I was most upset at the snapped fingernail.
Have a good race on Saturday Jason. Hope you get the time you're after - sub 3hrs...??!!
HeOw - are you doing the Wrexham Half? I'm thinking about it but my Sunday racing plans have all gone out of the window as my 6 yr old son starts playing in a footie league next month and that means matches on a Sunday! Aaarrgghh! Why don't they have childminding facilities at races?!

Morning all
Best of luck to Sir John, Mish and any other racers- look forward to the reports
Having fun here with a calendar, plotting my 12 week plan for VLM and picking out tune-up races along the way

Sir John, that looks a BEAST of a Half! Well done! Damn right you should be chuffed.
BP- fingers crossed it's a minor tweak and you 'll be ok....
With 4 weeks to go could you drop your last LSR, get the calf in shape for the day by resting 10 days and continue your taper?
Not ideal but could get you to the start line.

Cheers John, I'm deciding between that and Liverpool HM but as I did Liverpool last year I'l probably plump for Wilmslow now I know its a decent race.
Imedals, no medals at Stafford I'm afraid, we got a mug last year. Its a small, well organized race though. Heres my Garmin from last years run.

Good luck on Sunday Jason, I don't envy you!
I'm not at all worried about Sunday- except for negotiating stairs, that is
Saturday, however, is a different matter
Hope your legs start behaving soon, Gaz

HeOw- Ta- this will be my 4th consecutive Snod- and can definitely recommend it Hope you aren't too bruised after your fall...
