Vixx/Fiona - heat wasn't the word I was in that race just to finish that day was an achievement. I did it in 2011 and ran 35mins quicker simply due to the lack of that heat. The more I read about Mick it was a real shame I did not get to meet him and run along side him.
Just seen the picture Wee Col posted of Edinburgh and I now certainly know I have seen Mick at GNR and also Edinburgh - it is at times like this I start to think why great people like Mick rather than some of the scum the world has to offer
Really devastated to hear about Mick. Only met him a few times around GNR and Edinburgh but really enjoyed his company and enthusiasm for running. A great personality and as tough as nails when it came to endurance. So sad to hear of his passing. The good really do die young. RIP Mick x
Just found out about Mick, so sad. He helped me so much towards the end of the Coniston 14 a few years ago "come on, this is the last hill..." (It wasn't ), and he drug me to a 7min HM pb not long after.
I only met him a few times, but he was just like his online persona. Really top bloke.
What can I say about Mick that hasn`t been said. Like many others only met him a couple of times. His smile, his use of the spoken word was often difficult for me to understand. I was lucky to share a pint, ok maybe two with Mick after a GNR.
Canny lad.
Cheers Mick here`s to you - Well I knew you could not only have one !
Looks like another one here in red n white for GNR,just got confirmation I've been successful in Daily Mirror Ballot.See you all on the start line,GNR no. 7 coming up.
I think I'm in for 2013. I cant access my home emails but my profile has a green tick next to it. Second attempt in ballott and looks like second time successful!
As promised, todays run completed wearing a red and white top. It may not have been very challenging or "character building" and it certainly wasn't very quick, but it was very poignant and I thought of Mick all the way round. That one was for you mate.
Wee Col, that's a great photo of him/. It's just SO sad.
Hi WTS - good one. Well done Spongecake and Jovi for getting in via the Mirror ballot. I got an unsuccessful e-mail but hoping to get in through the main ballot.
Have a good run Shielsy. I was out for my first run in months at the weekend and am still sore. About to try a gentle trot tonight - onwards and upwards!!!
Mandie, no I'm not entering the ballot this year, but I'm thinking about coming up for the GNR weekend if I can manage it. I think "Abide with me" at the start will have a special significance this year. (I'll stock up on tissues Mandie).
Just heard I've got a place in the GNR 2013 - missed out last year, so wasn't expecting to get anywhere - too shocked to be excite right now, but I'm sure it'll sink in...
Try the ballot together and if neither or one does not get in then grab a charity place. I done 18+ GNRs and probably half of then through a charity place. There are a number of charities local to Newcastle - Percy Hedley foundation, St Oswalds and Grace House. Percy Hedley are asking for support now, you pay your normal 50 GNR fee to them and raise 200 in sponsorship per number.details here http://www.percyhedley.org.uk/page.asp?id=227

Hi Col,
typical of the man to think of us like that. Hope to see you in June. Do you have a red and white striped top?
He was a special guy, BP.
Bloody links & uploads!

I'm not a football fan but i'll be wearing red and white and having a pint of Guiness post Blaydon.

I'm wondering if my success has something to do with there being a certain allotment for ladies/certain target times?
Mind you that does mean it could be time for my lucky streak to come to an end !

I hope you can make it, it will be so lovely if you can be there.
Think I may try and make it to the start this year.
Well done on those runs, folks. As has been said, it's great to see some old regulars back again. Hope you stick around for a bit.
Good luck to those in the ballot. Great news for Jovi and spongecake

Luke, you asked about entering as a duo.
