if they cancell this - which is an hour drive from home - then we will hopefully go run Stratford's ( NOT the Roman 9 ) a 7.2 miler, - its just accross town from us, but that to, can be extremely icey, the the middle bit of the race is extremely hilly and exposed
but ( i'm hoping ) conditions are ok, as i'd much prefer to drive the hour and spectate and run for a bit on this Glouc mara - its a better day by far
Thank you Blisters and MicknPhil for the positive words and advice. There's still hope! Plan B for me would be to run the distance from home, conditions permitting - oh deep joy. If the conditions are too bad to run, does anybody know if the race will simply be cancelled or will there be the possibility of a re-schedule?
Jackie - it will be a shame if its cancelled, but its always tough for the organisers , they doomed what ever they do - and they have families and have to do a days work first
but, saying that , the race itself is a fantastic day out, especialy now their allowed use of the Sports centre -
I completely agree with you - a logistical nightmare for them!!! Entering a run in January has to carry a weather risk!! I really enjoyed the Gloucester 20 last year - the organisers, supporters and runners were all really friendly - it was a great day. I think I saw you guys at Abingdon in Oct - thank you for the support!
Nice one Blisters, lets all hope your right, fingers crossed! The worse of it looks up to dinner time Friday, hopefully sun and a slightly warmer 5-6c will get ridd of the snow for Sunday.
Hard decision for the organisers!! Lets hope it's ok.
Yes i had a tumour removed end of October - two weeks later had had Norovirus for 9 days - then Xmas week i had antibiotics for a severe head and chest cold - its all left me weak
Marc, did you run the Liverbird Marathon on New Years Eve, because I was thinking you were the fella that I ran the first half with, because you said Preston and mentioned your wife and one year old, which you had told me about.
Hi Mark
Yep thats me! Thinking Gloucester is going to be a no-goer. Cant justify driving 3hours through blizzardsand rush hour traffic with a one year old. Its a shame as I was looking forward to it. Ill catch you at Blackpool though!
Hi Marc, yes I agree, Gloucester is looking a bit difficult now. I was only planning to travel down from Liverpool on Sunday morning, but the possible conditions are making this look not too advisable. It may be cancelled yet looking at all the other comments. Are you definately not going down there? If not I'll catch you on the 6th April in Blackpool. Keep in touch.
forecast is certainly not looking good - according to forecast, what is falling here in CV37 is only the very slight begining of it- which heavy snow due by tomorrow evening across much of Britain
Web site says tomorrow will be decision day. Ironically, that is when the worst of the snow will be down. Expecting 4 inches and drifting, followed by overnight frosts.
I actually anticipate that Sunday will be bright and crisp, with everything still covered in a blanket of white, including the rural roads. Motorways will be clear.
Personally, I'm predicting a cancellation. They have had to do this before, when Gloucestershire got submerged in flooding in July 2007 and that coincided with the 50k at the little village of Boddington.
Personally, I still quite fancy a run around the snow clad lanes if anyone would care to join me.
Mick, I don't think we have met but I have probably ran some of the marathons that you have been at this year. The last five I did this year were Wolverhampton and New Forrest in September, Chester and Liverpool in October, and the Liverbird on New Years Eve, although I am aware from your comments that you have been very unwell.
Blisters, thanks for the info about cancellation, but I don't know about travelling down fro Liverpoll for a jog in the snow in Gloucester!! Ha ha.
Don't think the snow is as bad as they were saying, im in north Devon, snow followed by rain so fingers crossed it will melt the worse of it. Only problem could be of it freezes. The way to look at it if it's cancelled it could have been worse, we could have flown to New York!
Wonder if it will be rescheduled or plan cancelled. I have got so many marathons planned this year I don't think I could fit it in unless it was August. Lol!
However, I've done five long runs, one every two weeks, all 20 milers with one 22 mile, and there were miles of incline in each of those long runs (I live in the Wye Valley; hills everywhere), so I'm well prepared.
Still, if it's cancelled I may book the Shakespear marathon and work on my speed in the interim.
Mrs Easy was running it with me; she's done lots of marathons, but she's got a cold so is kinda hoping it's going to be cancelled.
And for the last three weeks all I've done is taper off and eat loads, so if it's cancelled, I'm off out for a run today.

jackie - yes at Abingdon supporting - i was out on DR's orders- i'm now back training after my lung op
Hard decision for the organisers!! Lets hope it's ok.
Lung Op - OMG!!!! And back training now - I take my hat off to you and wish you the very, very best
Yes i had a tumour removed end of October - two weeks later had had Norovirus for 9 days - then Xmas week i had antibiotics for a severe head and chest cold - its all left me weak
Hi Mick - sounds like you have had a tough time. Hope you are feeling well.
Going to be a tough call for organisers, although I suspect come sunday conditions will be different to those on Friday.
I quite like the 'Gizoogle' interpretation of the statement on the website...

if we all bring some salt for the course and buy lots of tea and coffee for the marshalls will they still let us run it
Nobody can stop you running around the course. You should even have a number by now. Studded shoes? Plain trainers?
Hat and gloves definitely.

Hi Mark - i dont how or when they call it - - it depends i suppose on how bad it is, and if it freezes over- that would then be a problem
i suppose depending on how much falls, and when it falls, Sunday morning is still 60 hrs away
i do hope ure all well
do i know u - have we met ?
hey boss - how u doing
