Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. All the snow has finally melted down South, but I'm whacked today - although I know I need to finally release the bike from it's Tacx shackles, it's just so much easier to get a timed workout done on the turbo than getting out in the open. Maybe i'll give it parole come Feb Also really struggling to fit in swim sessions as it is (let alone the sets Mr Fink suggests in his infinite wisdom!) but now there are 3 of them in a week it's even harder. Should be a long run today, but i've got a pain in my left shin so have decided to rest it and swim instead - going to just see how far I can swim in an hour today - will be a good benchmark for the rest of the year . Hope everyone has a successful weekend!
JKS - I'm wanting to get bike 'release' as well, but no chance up here after fresh snow last night.
Ankle doesn't hurt to walk on now, and swelling's going down, so feeling a lot more optimistic today ... and booked hook-up at campsite, and a caravan that the company delivers and sets up on your behalf!! Now that's what I call camping!!!!!
You don't need to book, just turn up on the day. There was tons of space on the Friday, it filled up on the Saturday but there was still tons of space. They'll be the Pirate are bagsy'd too
I struggled enough getting the OH to buy into Outlaw, let alone broaching the subject of camping too Does anyone know if there is any transport from any of the hotels?
got there at 10am Friday morning ,saw couple of flags in the caravan area, no tents at all. aside from the general public in very small numbers. Had the whole area to choose from and since I was not a pirate at the time and tend to like it quiet set up in the middle of knowwhere. By Friday tea time had met several pirates who set up in nearby and by Sat lunch it looked like a festival ..come early ...it's fun pre race . post race I was crippled nauseous etc , which made me less good company!
Just follow the train of kebab wrappers and empty beer bottles...
Sorry.... I'll be more careful with my rubbish this year!!
I'm guessing it will be much like last year - one of us, possibly me, will arrive Friday, grab a spot (same spot as last year??) fly the Pirate flag and head off to the pub after laying claim to half the camp site. Simples!
EP - you need to bring dollar bills for the strippers!
In T1 they have people to strip the wetsuit from you at Outlaw. Though they ended up dragging me along the ground for a while. In T2 you hand your bike to someone who then racks it for you, saving you time.

2 hour run this morning then 30min trainer ride. Sick of running on frozen rutted trails. Really hard on the calves and ankles.
I'm sure I've asked this before, but how far in advance do we need to book for camping without leccy?

JKS .... I very much doubt there is transport - I could be wrong
They also have a list of local hotels with offers up.

The camp site was turn up and pay on the day.
No need to book, just turn up and pay on the day and find the pirate area. Loads of space.

I trimmed about 2" off the legs after Outlaw. It was much easier the next time I used it.
I don't know why, but this really made me giggle - I've never been stripped before ... quite looking forward to it now
My sister was a stripper at Outlaw last year, she was shouting at people, "Sit down and I'll pull you off!".
Pass on my thanks. It took 2 people to tug mine!
This is definately going to the highlight of my day - it'll make me swim faster
I thought T1 times were a little on the long side.
