I've just signed up for the Brighton Marathon 2014. I haven't even run my first marathon yet which is the London Marathon this Sunday. Still, no harm getting Brighton lined up for next year eh! Who else is coming?
So is this the official thread then, wondered how long it would take? I'm in and going for sub 3:10 (optimistic) or possibly 3:15 (realistic). Will be my 4th in a row.
3:15? Wow - I hope to get there one day! I am going to try for 4:00 at London but honestly anything (slower than 4:00) is possible. I will set myself a Brighton target based on that.

What keeps drawing you back to Brighton?
I was sorely tempted to enter again as it's a great marathon - much much better than London and as it's local, easy logistics.
BUT I'm not sure what we are doing next year as we have some plans that, if they come to fruition, may mean we won't be in the UK for a lot of the year so I'm parking any marathon plans for 2014 for the mo.
TG - I'm doing Beachy for a change to marshalling. about time I gave it one last shot.
yes, sorry, that was a bit cryptic. I'm just about to do VLM, which will be my first marathon, so won't enter another one unless I actually enjoy it! But by then it might cost £60 to enter Brighton, and even though it's not that much more expensive than some other marathons, it's double what I've paid for any race before, so feels a bit steep.
I've got a championship place in this year's VLM, which will still be valid next year too if they don't change the qualifying times.
Also, what kind of idiot does a marathon as a birthday treat?
Khanivore - I've only ever done Brighton. Haven't got in London yet and never entered anything else. Brighton is where I grew up so love the place already and love the atmosphere on race day. I'm sure others are great too but can't imagine anything being better than Brighton, at least not in this country.
I'm in, Brighton 2013 was my first marathon and already starting to think about the next one. I was following a training plan for sub-4:30 and ran 3:57 fairly comfortably, so want to have a decent go at training better over the winter and try for a sub-3:45.

I did the Chester marathon to 'celebrate' my 30th
Still undecided about this one! Had to defer because of a foot injury but do feel £50 + booking fee is a little steep when people at the expo could buy for £40...
I'm in Not quite sure what my training is going to look like as I've got the small matter of a 160 mile multi-stage run across the Sahara for a week in the February but it should make it interesting!
FB/Tracey/Tommy - I'm also in for Beachy. It was only my first Beachy last year but I absolutely LOVED it, best race of the year for me (with Brighton coming a worthy second!)
Comments
not for me next year - taking a break as it's going to piss down that day anyway.... and I only do it when it's sunny
haha - please don't say that. I'm not looking forward to running in the rain!
Well... I'm in too. I signed up thanks to fat buddha's weather forecast - as every marathon I've ever done (1) has been in the pouring rain.

I'm in even though I said I wouldn't do it again oh well I did enjoy the first Brighton Mara I think.
I am also unsure as to whether to do Beachy Head again this year so I probably will.

Brighton 2014 will be my 22nd marathon

How did you get a championship place?
FB - lol!
Khanivore: qualified with a HM time, it's easier for women.
FB: haha, maybe I'll reconsider after Sunday.
Hi, Registration confirmed - does that mean I'm in? Last year I'm sure I got a congratulations!
I have been running injury free for the last 2 months after pulling out this year. Fingers crossed that this year I will get my running legs back...
