4:12 for the Milton Keynes marathon. Oops! it was a PB, so good, but that's all that was good. Halfway in 1:56 after starting at 8:40-9:00 pace, but after a gel-enforced loo break, it went kinda wrong!
Good work Jim, I have 4:12 burned into my brain, it was my second London time after cramping up in the last few miles.
How are you feeling now OG? you can just relax now for L2B surely?
I pottered round ten miles earlier, my plan was to go to the canal then back but I decided to turn left and follow what we call the Roman Bridges down a little footpath, I stopped at eight to take some photos but was very pleased overall.
I didn't want to overdo it as it is Sandstone Trail on Saturday, I hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew. Last time I did it in six and a half hours, with plenty of chatting on the way, so I think six might be on the cards. If I'm lucky, some of the faster v50s might stay at home And I can get a shot at the title lol.
Mr P - feel great today (and yesterday) thanks - no stiffness or niggles (just been to the gym in fact). Sunday was pretty miserable at times as I couldn't shake off some form of pelvic/stomach cramp that came on after about 15m, but happy to have dragged myself to the finish. Seriously hard, hilly 27m course, made harder by warm and breezy day, very exposed on the top of the Downs and tough underfoot on the flint/chalk and rutted mud. Not all bad though - one of my clubmates won it ! Finished in 3.17. Animal.
Jim - hardest thing ever but a brilliantly organised event from start to finish. Can't praise it highly enough. Hard as hell though.........I had issues including leg pain and, worse, stomach issues after eating at half way. Live and learn though - just happy to have finished which was my aim, bonus that it was still daylight....... Still basking in the afterglow of completing it
Cool ! Not looked but that must predict you in the 3.30-3.45 range That's a target then
Frustrated here......got a sore shin. Think it might be a stress fracture, waiting for fizzy appointment. Guess that's what happens with a 36 mile increase in distance in one go......
Wow! I have been away from running for about 3 years. I am so chuffed this thread is still alive and well. Fingers crossed I get aplace at London in April. My training starts tomorrow. I hope this is not another false dawn for me!!
good luck Ripped, hope you're able to find that inner motivation and build up the miles strongly and steadily. Lots of hills and lots of miles. Fun fun fun!
Hi all, and welcome back Shimster, it's been a long long time. The VLM14 magazine are falling through peoples letter boxes. I've had mine and it's a SORRY.
After being out of running since June with a calf injury, I started back and have a back problem now.

5 months until the next one, gotta get some decent LSRs in!
well done OG, don't think I could cope with a proper "hilly" course that length!

Did you go to work OG?
I'm still a bit knackered from reading about it so I didn't run today.
Yes was fine even on Sunday - remarkable lack of fatigue or stiffness. Delighted.
5k PB last night, took off about 1 min 25 to make it 22:33... now my 5k, 10k and 1/2M times all match with Greg McMillan's predictions!

Yes our thread is quiet, and the forum is a bit duller than it was, I think Facebook might have done for it.

Do you remember the entire company being banned from internet because I was on the forum all the time?

Hi Mr P, glad to hear you have a new job, you were hating the old one. Sooo, does the new one allow facebook access?
I've noticed that the forum is now quite as it used to be. Still the same die hard faces though.
