In Hamburg the hi fiving actually tired my arms out a lot!!! no joke!! I can't resist - when you see those little kids with their hands out and all the runners piling past them - got to reach over and give them a high five!!!
I need to make sure I am aware of when the camera's are on me - every other marathon I've done I've had the choose between pictures where in all of them I look like Victor Meldrew!!!
Last time someone from work looked at my photos before I got back in the country - he remarked that on the later photo's it 'looked like I wasn't trying!' He know gets a little bit of phlegm in his tea whenever I get the drinks
Hi Guys, not posted for a wee while and just caught up with the rest of the posts. The road to Berlin started for me in Helensburgh as I did the 10K tonight. Really pleased with my time as I managed it in 42:24. Wasn't expecting that as I have not done much speed work and especially as I did a 10 mile run with my friend who is doing next weeks Edinburgh Marathon last night. Having a day off tomorrow before a 12 miler on Saturday morning (friends last long run before Marathon). I've got the Edinburgh Half same day as Marathon.
Really up for Berlin now, hows everyone elses training going? Anybody got any races coming up?
David - wow, brilliant 10k! Sounds like you're on it again this year. I've got the Blaydon Race June 9th, then nothing apart from In The Long Run in July:
David - I'll keep quiet about the races as i'm doing too many But I'll be joining Mr Moore on In The Long Run. If you want some regular steady training miles (every day 10-15-20 miles) then have a look at this
Iain & Emmy - Just had a look on the web link Iain provided. Looks like quite a challenge and all for a good cause. Really sad that things like this still go on in this century.
Well guys and girls - decision really has been underlined now - we've gone past the last day for my to cancel my accomodation so Edinburgh is all go. My ankle is strapped up for the following week (and will be re-seen to before I go) and I have a plan for drugs and pace etc. Excited now. Question is - if I finish Edinburgh and even if I do so in pain - do I still have to buy the first round in Berlin????
David White - You're completely right. It shouldn't happen but it's becoming a larger and larger problem throughout Europe. I just hope that we can help out those affected. If we can all do something small - that small with equate to something larger and more substantial.
Jase - You'll ALWAYS have to buy the first round now you've offered
Emmy and David - what link are you referring to? Sounds like something I'd like to see....
And I shall start saving now then! My question is - just how many of you crazy runners will be at that bar in Berlin? On that note I hear the tapwater is very good in Germany....
Jase- It was the link on Iain's post this morning. http://inthelongrun2013.org/ It makes quite a read. Don't know about the tap water, but the big jugs a beer me and Iain had at the pub post Berlin Marathon last year went down a treat and from memory of the 2012 Berlin forum Johnas was on the Jagermeisters
Thanks David - sounds like I am going to need to endulge upon some financial planning to afford this round
And the trafficking run looks amazing and for a very good cause. Sorry, I've been logging on at work so may have missed some of the posts - but presumably some of you guys on here are doing it?
Being a newbie to this forum lark and having not met anyone of you....let's just say this sounds like it's going to be interesting. And a little scary. I'm shy you know so be gentle with me in September

...beats looking like the hunch back of Norte Dam
EHN - yeah - can't deny that.

I have to agree with EHN. I look in pain during most of my photos - even if i'm having a good time!
Our Paris ones are alright. We had a posetastic day!
That's because you are a bunch of babes - with DV
Only when we're with DV?

I...........want to do this race.
It would round out the set before I finally grasp the reality of not having another mararthon left in me. Arrgghh!

Hi Jase - Yes. There's a group of us from the forum that are running it. If you're interested in joining; we have some spaces available.
Cool. I'll see how Edinburgh goes first with the ankle before committing to anything else (for once - that is my being sensible)
Jase - all depends on your state in Berlin.
Well I will be staying over until Monday so I intend to fully enjoy myself
I'm there until Tuesday
Now i'm even more jealous! I'm just going to write in marker pen my hotel address to give to the taxi drivers
I am also there until Monday. Does that mean that the Sunday evening is going to be a messy celebration?
Never messy. We're ladies. We drink litres of beer with class
