Just back from a week in France, not great timing with my first half IM a week today. Was there with my family & my wife's family, managed to get some nice runs in around the lanes around Brisvily (Brittany) -- utterly gorgeous countryside, did a 14 mile run the first day (beating my own half marathon PB)! Even did a sea swim (sans wettie). Kept the weight off, mostly. Looking forward to Grafman with Sossige next Sunday!
Holy cow, did you see the Budgie's swim time? If I have the number right, he did an 800 meter swim as part of an Olympic-ish tri a few weeks ago and today he swam 1931 meters in about the same time. That's what I call conquering the OWS! He did a grand total of 6:52. Now I might be worried about getting my arse kicked when we do IMCDA next year....
CLEAT ADVICE please -- as I've said before I'm a relatively new cyclist, don't know a lot about the ins and outs. I'm riding my first road bike with cleats in the position the shop guy fitted them in. Seems to work fine for me, no issues, etc.
I remember the bike shop guy saying he'd set my cleats/pedals up with higher float then I could adjust it down (never did). So I'm assuming it'd be best for me to go for cleats with 9 degree float? I know lower float is more power to the stroke, but I don't want to do something at this late stage that'll cause problems.
I personally find 4.5 too be perfect for me 9 degrees is a lot of float and don't even go near zero unless you havea damn near perfect stroke and don't ever move about!
My first half IM on Sunday with Sossige (Grafman). Weather's looking sunny and hot, so question: best sun cream? I'm thinking P20. I'm bald, burn easily, so something that'll last the whole race would be best. Any advice very gratefully received!
P20 all the way! I used P20 factor 50 in Lanza - 13 hours of racing in bright sun and no sunburn at all. But as Ali said, make sure its dry before you put wettie on.
Suncream you can put on before the wettie and it lasts all day? Wow, I'll be having some of that.
Great swim with the tri club tonight. Just for his own amusement, the bad man made us do a length of butterfly. If I live to be 100 I will never master that.
Yep P20 is ace, make sure you let it all sink in before you put the wettie on and as a precaution I would put another layer on when you take it off in T1

Yes, good swimming. Those times have also confirmed i am still the official slowest swimmer on the thread
Something to work on then!!
78mile bike ride out to Burnham Market & back today. Not been before, its supposed to be very nice.
May bump in to Amanda Holden or even Johnny Depp who has been spotted there on numerous occasions. Apparently the village is the Norfolk Chelsea

If you see Johnny, make sure to give him a yaaaahhhrr.
I'm on a rest day but seem to be gravitating toward the licra, must be the lack of rain playing tricks on me

They're wearing now, though, and I need new ones ... I'm looking and 'float' is mention, either zero, 4.5 or 9 degree. http://www.wiggle.co.uk/look-keo-grip-cleats/

highr float the better for me ... make sure they are the right cleats, subtle differences with some
Will do, thanks Melds.

P20 is great apply and give time to dry before putting on wetsuit.
Top tip get someone else to apply bright red raw where I missed a bit!
