Is there decent grub available on/around the Outlaw site? I'm camping and just wondering how much to bring (apart from my provisions for the Sunday morning fry, which goes without saying ).
And might there be a capable Pirette to assist me with my tent? Never put one up before (that's what husbands are for). I would ask for a big, strong man but ths is the Pirates..............
Well, I would have offered to help wioth the tent, but now.......
There's a pub 10 minutes wal away that does reasonable pub grub where most of us will no doubt end up. There is a Morrison a 5 minute drive away, apart from that, there ain't much!
And a pre-race fry up - i'm impressed!!
I'll make a quick map at some point which will show where abouts in the camp site we'll be (unless otherwise advised by OSB/Barley/Schmunks to camp elsewhere) so you can either join us or avoid us

I wouldn't want to be anywhere but in the bosom of the Pirates
that pub sucks, Rafi. Like Little Chef with lager. Taxi/drive to West Bridgford. Just 2 miles away and a chi-chi lil 'burb. They probably sell Irn Bru too.
agree that the pub is convienient so you can come and go as you please the friday and saturday evenings......its only a weekend so no need for posh grub.cheap and cheerful and within walking distance is best
and deepfried mars bars? all in the name of replenishing diminished energy levels post race
There is a takeaway type place next to the cricket ground you can get stuff like that from. If sarah ask's you who told you that I will deny all knowledge.
Not here very much but wanted to say hi now we are a month away. Really looking forward to the race. My training so far has been three 1km swims, two and half long bikes, a lot of walking and quite a bit of running. And a hell of a lot of time on my turbo. Slightly alarming when I write it like that but it will do the job.
That's not a stupid question at all EP - I think lots of people will do that, myself included. It is just easier to think with all the stuff laid out in your room. You have to put your numbers on your bike and helmet, write your details on your number etc as well as packaging your bags.
For those that wish to camp with the rest of the Pirates, I suggest we head for the same area we were camped in last year (unless requested to camp elsewhere by OSB/Barley) - rough map below.
I'll try and get there Friday afternoon to lay claim to the area!!
OSB in their other incarnation (Pace Setters), nearly kicked the pirates out of the Vit 5 years ago as I got a little carried away painting on the course Friday night.
They woke us all up on the campsite about 5am!
6ft high letters accross the top of the rutland ripple, everyones name up the small hill after Ketton, other bits and bobs
You could just about see some of the 'temporary' powder paint the following year.
Comments
Nursey, there will be plants of peeps on hand to help you with your tent so don't worry
btw - can you text me your number again as my iPhone died and I've lost anything recent

Damn you and your finely-tuned observation skills. Monday morning fry!
Just come in drag and I'll be happy to let you loose on my tent.

Its 2 for 1 on food though, and tbh after the sunday I'd even eat in a little chef. CLose enough to crawl back to my tent

unless we are banned from schmunkees antics there on the last day last year

More likely to be banned because of what Cat5 did!
i thought we were all well behaved for the most part
the only misbehaviour i can remember in the pub was the hard time shmunks gave the compress-sport rep a couple of days before the race!
were you not there when schmunkee was trying to get the landlady to sleep with her
That made me chuckle
Mwah ha ha ha, how did i miss that bit?!
To be honest, I'm not sure Schmunkee was all there when she did that
And we're more likely to get banned for what Cat5 DIDN'T DO!!!!
i either missed it or blanked it from my memory as a coping strategy!!
Are you on the feed station this year Mr Z?
yes
hello outlaws!

I fully expect to see that painted on the grass, to scale, when I turn up Friday.
Now I do like a challenge, and I do have lots of yellow road spray paint at the moment.........
Ive got a job lot of 'not so temporary' black and yellow powder paint left over from a few years ago, probably enough to colour our whole area.
Im not so sure OSB or the campsite will thank us though.
Weird isnt it, some unkown person painted box hill a few years ago, there was a rumour that the National Trust and some locals were not amused
It'll grow in a couple of days
