Not quite sure how this happened but .. had a nice swim up and down the Dart yesterday with a sprint finish as I went off course by 100m so had to turn around and catch up the leader. I didn't want to be 'chicked' by someone older than Meldy!! Just managed it in the closing metres! Yay!!
Then jumped on the scales this morning and it didn't shout 'Only one at a time please' for a change!! End result being one stone lighter than three weeks ago! One or maybe one and a half more to go before Christmas!
Still really enjoying the swimming again. Plenty of practice with the drills I've been given to do. I've even been running a few times. It hasn't been pretty, but is injury and pain free! Just a bit of cycling to get in whilst the weather holds!
all this has been on the back of my Cricket team winning our League and being promoted to the Surrey Championships.
Well my sock overflowth from yesterdays efforts - today my efforts consisted of walking to the bus stop and walking home. It took a while and going up the stairs was slow
PS - wow, well done on the swimming and massive weight loss
Have managed 2 days of the crunch plus a run this morning and off swimming soon. Also took a nice healthy salad for lunch instead of going to the pub with almost everyone else.
Afternoon all. Loads of brilliant sock stuffing going on, well done everyone Great weight loss there too Siggy, woo hoooo!
I've been stuffing my sock with the 30 day challenge (or crunch challenge as folk call it too), a wee bit of swimming and some TRX work at the gym this week.
Podds - there is a video Bookie linked to in the fb page for it that shows the difference between squats and crunches - i'll try and remember to link it here when i get home (can't get fb on work pooter!).
I'm doing swiss ball stuff instead of the sit-ups and crunches though, as they kill my back. As the daily numbers increase, I might also do some stuff with a medicine ball or kettle bell instead of the cruches - basically anything that works my abs. All the other bits of the challenge i'm doing though
Just got my new Swim Smooth book today, so looking forward to getting it home for a read a wee practice at the gym (well, gym pool!) later in the week
lots of sock stuffing here, turbo this morning and gym including the 30 day challenge this afternoon
if you have the Fink strength training book there is a really good abs exercise in there - open close triangles. I do these in the gym but may include them daily as part of the challenge now.
I have found them on google books - you might have to search but they are on this link
Did the trainerroad 20 min test last night, the power rating it gave me sucked but I think I was doing something wrong. Plus I had the bike on the wrong riser and I felt like I was falling forward the whole time. Killed my arse.
Lunchtime today I did a 5km run and off to the popool at 8:30 to do 4k swim.

Nice swim. I am always envious of you fish-type people.
Did you feel like throwing up 5 minutes in to the 20 minute test?
You don't have to take photos! Or if you do maybe just of a damaged sock. 3K OW swim last night, weights and functional stuff early morning then track session tonight, 5.5 miles total with 1, 2 and 3 minute efforts. The sock overfloweth. Some advice from you ironers out there, I have 4.5 weeks to go and after my run off the long bike on Sunday I feel I need more work. Would I be best doing a lovely slow off road marathon to remind myself I love the distance, or another brick where I shuffle around wanting to die? Or both?
kate why do you feel you need more work? Have you put the time in and completed the plans to the best of your ability ? Likely its nerves and the beginnings of taper madness ..I would not really reccommend a marathon off road or otherwise at this stage, stick to the plan and douse with a bucket full of confidence You cant do too much now to improve but you can do a lot of harm by last minute ramp ups
My car decided to empty my sock today so once I had sprung it from the garage then I had to go and do 90 mins in the gym to get rid of my frustrations and then I came to work for the night. I am very much looking forwards to my bed
Kate, how will you feel when the real taper kicks in. If it takes 1 day to recover from each mile raced, then there is not time to recover from a marathon. Even if you're used to the load remember what your A-race is (Assuming IM is it?).
I imagine your training is getting within a week or two of the end of build, and you will begin to feel very tired and this is probably bringing on this feeling? As Meldy says - have faith in what you've done and chillax.
Need my sock sorting Got a new back trye last week after the old one got stredded on a big spike in the road and it has been rubbish. Lasted about a 100 miles before I've needed to replace it and been unable to cycle today.
Following reseach and also Sarah asking on farsebook going to a cycle shop tonight for a new one but needed to confess for the laziness so get the miles in at the weekend and also warn you all don't buy Mitchelin trye's because they are frankly w*nk.
Cake Vredstein Fortezza Tri Comps Ribble stovk em at around £40 a pair they last, are great in the wet or dry very puncture resistant and are nice n light i have used em for years

Nice one Ali. Well done Chris and Kate.
50-odd lumpy km today before heading out to a friend's birthday. Some champers in the sun and lots of food.
Great riding Kate, yay Ali.
10 mile run consisting of mile laps round the block. Happy with the stuffing today
today I got in the pool.
400m
yay - go me!
Even better ate a huge risotto and wine and limoncello and the restaurant owner drove us home. Rocking.
Did you beat my time ??

Fabulous PS. A stone in three weeks is going some.

My sock is having a break while we prepare for Bacchus. But still managed to sneak an hour spin in this morning
Ali - brill well done.

Biked to work today - twas enough for the sock stuffing.
I swum, I have crunched the abs. The physio has done his magic so I can carry on training.
Nice swim. I am always envious of you fish-type people.
Did you feel like throwing up 5 minutes in to the 20 minute test?
No, I suspect I wasn't trying hard enough. I'm gonna try it again. I felt battered but obviously not enough!
30 minutes very easy spin tonight to ease up the calf knot I tied yesterday.
Get a bucket ready! At the end you should need help getting off the bike. Good luck!
Ok, I'll take photos!

Having a bit of a rest from the impact of running for a while and am using the cross trainer at the gym to replicate a few sessions
Good write up here about the benefits .. and its a good website too
Early PT session this morning. Total of 9lb weight loss and 5% body fat so far.
Meldy, I'm just a bit obsessive and feel I need to do more not less to make the run easier at the end. HC, great result!
Nice work HC.

Kate. A marathon at this stage can only do damage. Please have faith in your training and enjoy the tapir.
Thanks for the advice, it is an IM on 6 Oct, 1 week of marathon taper normally drives me bonkers so I am going to have to keep the faith!
