Don’t worry Lotte, I went mad worrying about the minutia before my first 100.
The two spurs on the Thames Path will be easy to navigate. Just don’t fall in the river. The Ridgeway is a national trail on chalk paths. Centurion races are all well marked, so if you haven’t seen any markings for a while, you have taken a slight detour. You will want for nothing at the checkpoints, and you will never be more than 12 miles from the central checkpoint where you can store as much food and clothing as you want.
Having done a 80 mile race before, you know where the psychological low points are likely to crop up, and can be ready for them. The biggest risk in this race is the weather, so it is crucial that you bring the right clothing. If you have absolutely any questions about kit or preparation for this race, then myself and others will be more than happy to answer them
I can't wait Lotte. I love the build up to a big race, v exciting.
I wouldn't worry about Nav. I haven't yet had to use a map or got lost on a centurion race.
No crew for me this time, doesn't seem worth it because you'll be returning to your stuff every 25 miles anyway. I was going to use a pacer this time but he's just dropped out injured. Was looking forward to some company for the last 25.
Ben is right the most important thing in this race is kit. It got really cold last year after hours and hours of constant rain. It's also a long time in darkness so a quality headtorch is a must.
Well I'll no doubt be wandering along the course at some point so I'll have some of that coffee Tiago, other than that anything unusual would be nice. Some marshmallows at the sdw 100 went down a treat earlier in the year
ok peeps, gonna be at L Wittingham and swyncombe with Mr Tigs so requests please now so I can pick up stuff.
uncle Lirish? coffee, marshmallows, hot choc? I was thinking of making xmas pud and cutting it into little squares if anyone fancies that? ginger cake ( hands off WIB ) , bread and butter pudding ?
Rice is my fuel of choice so sushi on the sdw (cant remember if it was 50 or 100?) was fab but agreed something warmer suits winter. Are you on leg 3 Richyla, i'm sweeping that section - hoping a tiny bit of bread pud left behind by hungry runners
Not long to go now, last weekend of B2B long runs, then lowering the mileage until the race!
I'm hoping the weather resembles what we had today, crisp and clear. Rather than the horrific weather they endured on this race last year!
I generally don't have any preference for check points, although I enjoy a good brew and to dunk a few biscuits. Although I am partial to a bit of rice pudding
Look forward to reading some of the build up on the forum meeting some of you on the 29th.

It's a marked course, pay a little attention and you will be fine
I've gotten lost on marked courses before... and they were in daylight!!
Could be a long weekend then

I'm doing a couple of checkpoints, so start thinking about your special requests folks.
Wish I was running it though.
If you are doing the night shift just have the kettle on Tiago. Nothing like a warm coffee to give me a boost.
Tiago, are you doing it next year? I'm marshaling on the third leg part looking for entry next year. 6pm - 6am shift.
Ditto what Tiago said - get your requests in now!
Dill the kettle will be on!!
I'll be at Little Wittenham and Swycombe (I think), not sure what times, but anywhere I go, coffee goes with me.
I am hoping to do the grand slam in 2014, Richyla.
Don't you worry mate, I'll have cold pizza ready and waiting just for you.
Cold pizza , that sounds good to me . Hope to get past the 62 mile post this year.
It was the swimming section (61miles ) that I had trouble with last year.
I'm very dull when it comes to running grub but a bit of bread pudding with my coffee is a real treat.
I'll be the one in shorts
Looks like I'm gonna have to get me a camping stove to keep you lot caffeinated.

just scrolled back and saw your choice of bread pudding Dill ...lets see what I can do
Coffee, bread pudding and a nice little run in the mud.
It don't get better than that.
Will two bread puddings do - I was going to make one as well!
If not, any other requests?
The SDW100 this year had sushi at one of the checkpoints!
When is it?
Lingster - I'm putting all my raisins and currants into my bread pud, so will that do?
And I'm not doing sushi - that's just showing off!
Its the same weekend as PoS.
Personally I couldn't think of anything worse than sushi. Well apart from cauliflower cheese.
Nice thick and chunky home made soup now that would be nice

Depends on how hungry Dill is Penguin! Yes leg 3.

The 29th !!! S**t I had better start training.
great, see you out there somewhere someone leg3 Richyla - and hopefully no one else unless coming the other way (ie, 25 miles ahead of the sweeper)
I look forward to seeing you Penguin as that should be my green light to pack up and go home!
