No Tim, in fact Mr Sluggie will be there to give me a lift back (along with anyone else who needs to get back to Osmotherly or indeed Manchester, though the numbers of those needing to do so seem to be dwindling...)
Sluggie have you recovered fully from Blackpool yet? I'm not sure it was such a good idea. Training since has been patchy since and my legs are still complaining. Hope to be alright when we set off on Saturday.
Legs actually feeling OK except for twinging Achilles due to over-enthusiastic holiday pedalo-pedalling. I expect that means I didn't try hard enough at Blackpool...
42 miles is a big unknown though - my legs had had enough at 26
Well assuming my dogs operation has gone well tomorrow it looks like I could be there. He's got to stay at the vets for a few days anyway so I might as well be in Os as be at home worrying. But I've been thinking all week I might not make it so haven't looked at my maps at all. What's the feeling on footwear? I was going with roadies but that was before all the rain.
Thanks for all the kind messages - hope everything goes well for your dog Loz. Tim - once you've recovered from Saturday I'll ask you about your other suggestions for my first ultra. BEST OF LUCK EVERYONE, I'll be thinking of you all. I look forward (sort of) to hearing all about it very soon.

Im used to running/walking on my own, for up to 6 hours in marathons
But thats in an urban setting And getting lost in stokieland is a bit different to doing the same on the NOrth York Moors Having walked these babies as a youngster, I have the utmost respect for them Now, I entered this in the assumption that I would be walking with someone-now that this isnt the case, Im getting SERIOUSLY cold feet. My navigation isnt th best, I just havent had to do it for years, and ive certainly never had to do it on my own!
Before anyone mentions Trailwalker--there were dirty great yellow signs en route for most of it, and you could always see other people
Right off to clinic now then hare up to York Dads giving me a lift to ozzie from there, so hope to make it around 7-depends what time i get out of clinic
mobile is07711614957 if anyone fancies a meet up in a hostelry
otherwise ill sit in me room and study the route se ya tomorrow
We'll definitely be going to pub to get our supper - will look for you when we arrive at Vane House (similar sort of time to you)or ring your mobile. My mobile is 07850474605

Are you walking the whole way?
I'm going to jogging as much of it as is possible, with walking breaks
But will definatly walk along with you if I find you.
My main concern is that with the weather much of what would have been runnable is now swimmable!
Sob.
SWIM?????????????????
Yes caspar, i will be walking
In my walking boots which havent had an outing since the ill fated trailwalker a year ago
I MUST NOT run
cos of next week
Is this event not ominous enough?
I'm carrying everything from some lucky heather I got from a gipsy, a rabbit foot in my pocket and horse shoe in my back pack!
this is of course assuming we all make it to the end and dont get waylaid by a ghost of the dead on the way.
i have been practicing my magical charms to keep them at bay,and if that doesnt work I'll have a pair of old socks in my rucsac!
oh poo
i cant
Its in the other house
caspar
these boots are very good brasher ones
they cant be unlucky
Not such a lucky rock after all then!
we are still betwwen houses
caspar
Its bad enough without you bringing the supernatural into it!
Bryan has gone oddly silent
i now have 2 maps and a compass
we will be stuffed if there is no sun
Actually I think Bryan meant there was just a problem near where that mine was.
It'll be alright the rest of the way.
If we think positive thoughts I'm sure we can conjure up some half decent weather.
Bring the rabbits foot to be on the safe side!
