Come on Hippo; you can do it. Try walking backwards downhill. It will look as though you are going up. Half bottle of gin before Jugger should do the trick.
If the trauma is permanent then another try will not have any detrimental effect; therefore you might as well have another go. Go on, you know you want to.
The 'race' is as much psycological as fitness. Weather also makes a big difference and last year was bad. If you believe you can beat 12hours I think you will. It might even stop raining up here before July and dry out a little.
Hipps: just been reading your diary of your previous outing on this. Please don't take this the wrong way, cause there's no criticism/offense intended, I'm just curious: but why did you eat so little?
no excuse with this one really-cos a lot of it was walking But i was the same at trailwalker I had a big cheese roll im my rucksack and i could have had a bacon buttie with my gin at mile 23 But i was too distraught to eat
I am a bit tempted by this, though I've not done anything above a half-mara running-wise. I have done lots of long distance walking though, particularly the Cleveland Way and Coast to Coast and I think this route shares quite a bit with both, particularly the C2C? Sounds good for a run/walk with a lightish pack.
Hmmm. Now I think about it I got lost doing the C2C in the NYMoors in a couple of places.
And I would need a VAST amount of food to get me across.
So... Cardiff 9th October, Abingdon 16th October, Beachy Head 29th October. You just need to work the weekends of the 1st and 22nd and that's October sorted!

WHAT AM I THINKING OF
mc goohan-if you can long distance walk at a decent speed you should be ok
I am thinking of doing this still as mentioned by email, although it rests on transportation back to osmotherly.
Anyone who is bordering on doing this event should do it - loved it last year eveb though I pulled out
(and no it wasnt because of Bryans's bacon sandwiches or PL's stash of Gin!)
You get to the finish and we'll find some way of getting you back to Ossy.
'Loved last years event' - you must be a masochist.
Long time no see
