Hope the Lung Run went well . Was it as hot in Brum as in Stratford? Bloody scorching it was - ended up with a burnt face! But managed 1.39.51 for the half (that was from the start line, official time was 1.40.15). Had a great day apart from the last couple of miles - they were hard!
So, come on, how did it go in Sutton Park for the race?
It certainly was a warm day Peaceman - well done on the time at Stratford. I managed a 12 mile training run on nearby hills but it WAS warm. Ended up back at the car park with a face streaked with salt and sweat - what a lovely sight I must have made for the picnickers!!!
Well done Peaceman! We were lucky in Sutton, as the race was quite cool but FAB for outdoor pub weather after. Race was Ok apart from running it:-) did PB
Popsy: Think we are meeting at by the Visitors Centre at 10 am (hexagonal shaped thing)- The Visitor Centre is located within the park from the Town Gate entrance (about 5 min walk).
Popsy - Town Gate is on the east side of the park and is the entrance nearest Sutton Coldfield town centre. If you're driving, as you go round the one way system, Town Gate is almost opposite the entrance to Gracechurch Shopping Centre car park. Hope that helps! Glad you're coming on Sunday, 7 of us now.
Juicer - another one getting a PB! Sounds like the Lung Run is a good one to do.
Peaceman - The Lung Run isn't! Believe me. It's almost a miracle that I got a PB on that course. But it can quite easily be explained by the fact that I've never done a 10k when I've been running well. I'm hoping to get nearer 50 minutes on a flat course.
Juicer - what was the course? I did the 7 Pools Run (10K) at Sutton in March and that was good. But then again, you can't go too far in the park on the flat!
cunning raz: Are you the group leader Sunday then - Will the run take in the pub again afterwards:) The long range weather forecast is giving a max of 20c for this Sunday!! weather
aa - er.....s'pose so!?! If you all feel better having a 'leader'. Was thinking we would all just muck together, but if I am the only one who knows the park and routes then I spose :-)
Tell you what, I'll plan a 13 mile run which consists of 2 loops (different each time though) a 7 miler and a 6 and another route which will be an 8 and a 4 and we'll see what we all fancy on the day. How does that sound?? Also, are there any preferences for concrete or trails/mud?
Definite preference for non-tarmac. These delicate knees of mine suffer enough from pounding the roads. 44 miles last week on mostly tarmac - and I've suffered for it since!
Now THAT would be a challenge for Caz !! Find a route in Sutton Park that's almost all flat ! And running up and down the same bit of path would the cheating.
Sounds great, as long as you don't mind me dropping out somewhere between 7 - 10 miles Have never ran more than 7 before so I'll go for as long as I can before I collaspe.
As anthony a said earlier, the BBC weather has Sunday as 20C and sunny. Weather.co.uk has 20C and light rain. Who knows?
Anthony a - no problem. The good thing about Running Caz sorting out loops is exactly that. People can drop out at the end of a loop.....and go get the beers in, did I hear someone say?

Am secretly hoping there will be MORE fit lycra clad men there though ;-)

Sounds like you had a good day Prue. Nice weather, a PB and a decent pub sesion. Can't be bad.
Mmmm, now.....think I best tell Des about these Sunday runs we have planned :-)
I got a PB too, after shouting at Caz last year when she got a PB at the lung run "How can you get a PB at the Lung Run?"
Shall hope to do better on a flattie soon.
So, are you meeting at the first car park s you turn into Monmouth Road (or is it Chester Road) or meeting at the Boldmere Gate entrance?
So I may well have some female company after all !!

As for the pub aa, it could be arranged :-)
Running Caz - that sounds good. Go for it.
I run in the park a lot as well and there are loads of routes.
The 7 Pools 10K course is almost all offroad - not entirely flat though!
Not entirely flat = much more fun!!
Have never ran more than 7 before so I'll go for as long as I can before I collaspe.
