Josie- I totally agree with you, when I recieved my number I was really chuffed, but then realised that I may be in Brighton Friday night. So may have to travel from Brighton early Sunday morning with a hang over, nice ;o)
Hi Richard, HIMUK, just read the race report in 220, again cold and wet ! Rumours have it that the venue may/will change next year 'cause (some) locals are against the race and also the weather.
I'll be running the 8-miler (No.1470). I'm quite easy to pick out as I will be the only runner wearing a "Bitton Road Runners" vest (Blue with yellow side panels for those who are not familiar with it). After the last long run of Marathon training yesterday (20 miles) this will be the final real effort. I'm aiming for around an hour at Kingston, then it's all downhill from there on. Tapering and Carbo-loading - my favourite part of the training. Then it's off to set the streets of Frankfurt alight with a new personal best time.
Right then, I've just done three races in the last three weeks, and have another one planned on the 20th. If I do this one, that'll be five in five weeks. Hmmm. But I'm feeling quite happy about a great run last Sunday so I'm a bit tempted by the 8 miler.
Does anyone know if there are still spaces left. And is it flat? And should I do it, or do I deserve a weekend off...
I'll declare my target time now as one hour (or less).
As we will be finishing first, it would be good if some of the 8 milers could stay around a while to support to those doing the 16 & Marathon. If those who haven't already done so could post their numbers we'll be able to keep an eye out for you.
Plan: 21 mi @ 8:30 5m@8:15 then go fast. In my 19m practice on Sat I tried walking when I got to a mile-marker ahead of schedule until the scheduled time, and this seemed to work - I was able to sprint at the end finishing at 12mph.
Pls keep your fingers crossed for me - in reality I'll be pleased with any sub 4 so put 3:55 as target.
Hi I am entered in the marathon, number 86, should be between 3:45 and 4 but it depends on whether I can get up at 5:30 to get there in time. I know I won't want to (get up, that is) the race is the easy part.
Decided to be sensible and take the weekend off racing. And there's no way I'd have wanted to get out of bed early enough to be at Kingston for 8 in the morning!
Forum participants - suggest we meet up at 8 a.m. at the entrance to that funny little building in the middle of the square near the start where they take the baggage from you.
Don't worry Josie, I'm not even sure I'll be wearing a number! Like yourself I'm still waiting for a race pack, but my cheque has cleared so I'm assuming I'm in.
Entered in the 16 miler - still haven't decided how fast I'll be running it but probably somewhere either side of 2.5 hours. Don't know Kingston too well but will aim for the meeting spot if I'm there on time...

Thanks,
Still no race no for me either, my husband is getting suspicious about me pouncing on the post all the time :-)
I keep on calling my flatmate to see if the post has arrived! Still, I suppose I could always run with a bank statement stuck to my vest!!!
Good luck anyway everyone.
