Sadly, I was so busy I missed a lot of people passing through! It was nice to meet you at last, GD- shame we didn't have time to talk photography, and I hope your family had a nice day!
hey well done to the marathon runners, I know I'm a bit late but hey ho.
I got my DPAGB at the weekend. (Distinction of the photographic alliance of great britain) quite good for club photography if any of you know what it means.
I've got the photo blues. I had to send a lens back to fixation in london, as I keep getting an electrical problem (error 99 says the canon eos 300D). And know I think it may actually be the camera not the lens, so am waiting to hear if that's the case or not. I might end up having to buy a new one. Which I don't really want to do yet. Kind of waiting for the canon 30D replacement to come out.
DPAGB support your local camera club, and have entered a certain amount of work in exhibitions 15 prints (or can enter slides) 6 judges marking 2-5 need to average 20 points per print ie get 300 points out of possible 450 a nerve wracking day at a national meeting! Scored 310 so passed Just over half the entrants passed, about 45 people entered this 6 month period nationally.
I'm considering going to the Chelsea Flower Show to take pics (May 22-26). Only problem is, the tickets have to be booked in advance, so you can't just turn up if the weather is good and buy a ticket at the gate:(((
Good pics, GD, even though it looked like it was an overcast day, they are very clear. BTW- how many pics can you take with your camera- i.e what size memory card?
Aha! GD- I haven't been using the highest quality on mine yet, but I am about to get more HDD storage because my laptop is running out of space!
I definitely think that cropping has improved the pictures, everybody knows what green grass and trees look like, anyway. Good job. Question- now you have all these photos of the event, what will you do with them? Are you providing a link to the club organizing the race so that participants can have a look at them? How long do you generally keep running photos?
Currently got a Pentax Optio X which I bought primarily for my Oz trip last year. It's great for most things but it's really annoying for action shots cos the picture capture is really slow (red eye not fantastic either). Thinking about possibly replacing it in the not too distant future and wondered if anyone's got any recommendations. Need something compact that's good both at 'point and shoot' level but also has capability for me to have a play and do some arty stuff. Need a good zoom too.
Cheers GD. Know compacts probably aren't your kettle of fish. Prefer SLRs myself but most of the time I can't be doing with lugging something that size around.

Aye, in a manner of speaking.

I've just cropped and reloaded the photos so please have a look and tell me if you think it has improved them.

Then people can contact me and I send them the full size file so they can print them out themselves.
All for free as I'm a very nice man. LOL
Know I've got Flickr PRO I may never remove them so I can always see what my earlier pics looked like.
I'm trying to compare some cards for value for money.
Sandisk cards rate their speeds as 10, 20 or 40 MB/s
dane-elec give speeds as x 80, x 100 or x 133
Can anyone tell me which is better?
Thanks
I know dan dan is a numbers man. Maybe he'll know.
Do you have any problems with its speed?
Thats helps a bit, thanks.
Now I need to know what 20 MB/s means.
Why cn't they all use a standard measure ?
should mean it can take 20Mbs of picture every second
Kaz I know very little about compact cameras but the Canon ones are very good i think
Any idea about x100 though?
