I'm back, had my bath and I have two whopping big blisters on each foot, but had a fantastic race.
great to meet up with everyone at the start (was there at 7:45 if ya must know XL lol), and I didn't take off like a loon either. Had a really comfortable race - I'd definately wear the wings again - I didn't get more than 10yds without someone shouting "Well done fairy!" Was a really excellent atmosphere. The music on the John Reid road was really good - just when you needed a boost you had 800m of dance music to get you going.
Didn't struggle at all up the hills, just kept a nice even pace, didn't hit my target time, but I did knock two and a half minutes off my pb! Absolutely over the moon
Got interviewed by Look North & The Shields Gazette at the finish - picked up by my dad, and whisked off to my Aunt & Uncles for a nice cup of tea - how british
Strange thing is I dont feel knackered at all - If it wasn't for my blisters (which I wouldnt have got if Ihadn't had the daft socks on) then I'd had been quite happy to bimble on at that pace for a while - Gives me hope for future races
Looking forward to hearing everyone elses race reports - will start the new thread on Tuesday...I'm so lucky to have this race 'in my backyard' as it were!
great effort - you'll have to change your nickname. You can't be carrying too much excess if you can clock a time like that. Sorry you didn't get to the balloons. Maybe next year eh?
I found the start quite good but I was in Orange B, got past the star line after about 45 seconds.
Pleased with my time. I managed 1:39:50 it was faster than I expected. It was my first GNR and really enjoyed the atmosphere will definitely do it again.
Hope everyone else was pleased with their times and had a good race.

Good luck also to Andy Sly, RLTW, Tino and all the others who we didn't see.
Pengwyn and I both enjoyed coming down to see you all on your way. Looking forward to reading all the stories of the day as they come in.
Some impressive performances I see from the results.
Wonder who will win the race to post first.
Come on folks, tell us your tales.

Hi, Vicki
2 1/2 minutes - think you should be disqualified though. There must be rules about wing-assisted runs
Cracking effort - I saw your time on the GNR site. Will look out for you on Look North
Hey everyone.
Missed everyone at the start darn metro took ages got there about 10 minutes before the start so didn't have time to get to the balloons
Hard run was very warm but happy with time 1:42:05. So please to get a pint at the end.
Ferry back into sheilds had to wait about 5 mins so please about that.
Next year I'll leave a hour earlier.
Well done on your time Vicki
Lol well, apparently if its a UKA race I would have been disqualified (it does indeed class as assitance), but as it's classed as a 'fun run' I'm fine
Just chomping my way through a 'Go bar'
looking forward to my Sunday Dinner
Hi, flabby

Yeah - there's nowt flabby about him either
maybe 'fitter1' ?
hehe
Hi, CB well done, a decent improvement on last year. Did you enjoy it more?
'Assistance' ? they mustn't know much about wind resistance at UK:A
Sunday dinner sounds good. You've earned it. Will you be having any fruit with it?
Yeah Vicki maybe 'Flabby 1nce'
did you make it on time?
My dad said there were a whole bunch of folks missed the start and they'd started to dismantle it
lol yeah FB1 - very clever
Yup XL - fruit for pudding
lol at Flabby 1nce
go on, do it now.
Well earned I'm sure. They'll taste good.
25 minutes !!
You'd think they'd have been a bit more frequent than that.
Don't know other people found it.
25 mins wait seems rediculous - at least you made it though - well done on the pb!
Just checked my time/position (and registered for next year) :very pleased - was 4093 last year - 3636 this year.
ten mile split 1:18:37 - canny
so what zone do you think they'll put you in for '08 Vicki?
and what will you be wearing?
