OO - I think you're being far too generous there with your 7 to 12 mins. In 2002 my marathon PB was at Abingdon 4.48 and I did Cornish in 4.54, so I make that 2% slower. for Cornish. For a 3 hour runner that equates to 3.03.36.
....and for a hill specialist like you, maybe 3.02 (assuming 3.00 is your marathon time over a flat course)
Last year's winner did a PB at Cornish
Any room for a late entrant?
Just found out I'll be in the area (well, in the country anyway) and at a loose end this weekend. Called the RO (very nice lady) and it seems there will be no problem getting in still.
Can get a train down on Saturday & get the sleeper back to Brighton on Sunday night to get back to the office Monday morning (also means I won't have to find a hotel for Sunday night).
Anyone recommend B&B nearby?

Am battling with the National Rail website. It makes it look like you can get a really good deal, then when you try to book the cheap fares don't seem to be there anymore.

There was a few other guys ahead of me who also ran Cardiff who equally run around 7-8 minutes slower. But that could also be due to psot Cardiff maratho effects. I like the comment hill specialist...not been called that before.

Two hours on the net, 42 mins on phone to First Western, now booked train there overnight Friday & back overnight Sunday.
Ten minutes after I put the phone down I thought of a better route. Bummer.
Guess I ought to get training now then. Really looking forward to this now, but will I be able to stay awake in the office on Monday? I blame Shades for raving about it last year and planting the suggestion in my mind.

RfB -I didn't rave about this race last year as I was injured and marshalled instead. But this is my favourite marathon (have done it 9 times) and Hippo ran it last year and I remember her quote 'a gem of a race'.
You will love it but a bit of training would come in handy
Shades - sorry, must have been the year before. I never have been much good with times & dates. Only found out we were out of the nineties last year.

I enjoyed my little trip down to Devon this weekend so I thought I would go one step further and enter this one. I did the duchy marathon this year, how do they compare?
At the start of the year I had a fear of hills but all the marathons I have now done has put an end to that. (It was irrational anyway.)
This week we are off to Dublin to take in the sights and with it my fourth attempt at winning the marathon. I started a bit slow in 2004 but I still ran on to be involved in a photo finish for 482nd place.(thereabouts.) I told my mum I nearly won.
Now I must get on and book my train tickets.
waccyracer - have a great time in Dublin.
This marathon is much tougher than the Duchy. Very scenic course and as you no longer have a fear of hills you'll be fine!
Steve - I think the Cornish can be harder especially if the weather is bad as a lot of the course is over the exposed moor (one year we had horizontal hail). What makes Snowdonia hard is that the worst hill is at 21 miles and goes on for a long time, in the Cornish the hills are throughout the course but you do get a long flat spell from 14 to 20 miles.
I would say Cornish is slightly harder but there's not a lot in it.
you will be fine, get that entry in.

I have booked my train tickets and I have posted off my entry so I am already visualising running across the moor(with the sun on my face) and up the hills that I am no longer scared of.
I have never ran Snowdon but I have done a lot of walking round that area and that was hard enough. Maybe I can do it next year.

Good grief! I finally have time to potter about the forums for a bit, get lured into a thread about Scottish maras, find Rfb on there, come down to Cornwall and here he is again!
I'm not doing this one either but am going to try and get the following week off work and we might then have a trip down to the Eden Project. If so, I'll try and be there to cheer you on. I have to work on the Saturday so we'd have to seet off early Sunday.
