Ant - if you're up for this how about sharing a lift?
Anyone done any of those endurancelife marathons. Brilliant courses. Wondering how to get to Cape Cornwall for an 0800 start. One of Britain's more remote marathon starts.
PH hope you have better luck than me with finding a room. Couldn't get an answer from some places & those that did answer were full. Ended up about 6k or so away.
After reading back I have the answer to my question. It could be as tough as Snowdonia or it might not be. It is harder than Anglesea but not as demanding as Beachy head.
I suppose the truth is it's different for all of us.
Saw your post, am still thinking about this one, i'll know by sunday (after training run) and will post here either way, good idea for us to share lift, probably have to depart early though !
Good afternoon folks, I hope every-ones feeling OK. This seems like a very quite marathon.
I have booked a room in a b&b in Pensilva which is only four mins from the start. That should ensure I get there with plenty of time in hand. I always have a silly fear that I will be late.
Flying Ant, I hope your last training run goes OK and you make it to the race.
Shades- I think you have been in most of the marathons I have done this year.
Sadly i'll be giving this one a miss, todays 10 miler went ok but i've got a lot of phlegm stuck at the base of my throat and if it develops into something 'chesty' then i'd be struggling to complete 26 miles let alone race it. It also hasn't helped that i started back to full-time employment the day after finishing Snowdonia and its affected my training no end (but at least the bank manager is smiling again) !
Hope you all have a good run though, no doubt i'll catch up with some of you in 2008 (Epney, Gloucs)
Sorry to hear that FA, I was looking forward to exchanging tales of Port Talbot in an unstalklike manner - another time. I've finally decided to finish off my marathons this year with Cornwall, so time to taper again I suppose for a sub 3 challange - got to make 213 seconds on last year....that's doable isn't' it
OuchOuch- very doable I would imagine. Good luck on that.
I am hoping to do between 3.30- 3.45. I never know how I am going to cope with the hills. I haven't done much road running since Dublin, just a few short sessions on the treadmill, I thought my legs could do with a rest.
I will be watching on Sunday as Goat is running and I will have my dog with me( brown & white Cavalier). Please come and say hello even if you don't already know me.
FA - you could do with running in wind like we had up here a week ago - it was so strong it blew the bogies out of my nose! (Shades - hope you've finished eating).
Seems to be a lot of nasty cold going around, Syndey's off School & Mooey's got it nasty. But I've got everything booked up now so its too late for me to cancel. Just got the last part booked, the taxi to the start. Its gonna be a bit close as he's already got a booking at 9, but should be there in just about enough time.
Shades I'm not running because I've cut down the mileage. I think brain and body had had enough for a while, plus there were a few things going on at work. Shorter races through the winter, then I have plans for Cape Wrath next year. And I seem to be accumulating a few other not-short races.
I stayed in a nice b and b last year, at Minions shop. Comfortable, cosy and clean. As I didn't want a cooked breakfast they brought be a cool box full of goodies for me to choose from.
Hi shades ,i'm fine ,see you've been doing plenty of marathons as usual.
Don't know what happened to the link, but if you go Tamar Trotters site and go to cornwall road running, you'll find list of entrants.
I enjoyed Athens, it had been on must do list, being the home of the marathon and the historical reason. The route is nothing to shout about 26miles of dual carriageway 6m flat,14m climbing and 6m downhill but great to finish in the original stadium.I managed 3:11 and slight negative split. Also quite lucky with weather, sat was hot and sunny but on sunday it was cloudy but still warm 20c / 70% humidity, and we had light rain for last 6m .

Entry form completed, will post on the way to work.
Entry sent today.
Will be able to get a good comparison with Snowdonia. I'm sure this one isn't as hilly. How was Dublin, SHADES? And Beachy Head, Hippo?
beachy is the only mara what still gives me DOMS
aint no comparison to Cornish on that front
but beachy is of road
T Rex - didn't go to Dublin this year, have no holiday leave left to use.
Oh, well. We'll all have a get together here.

At last I have found the thread again. I will master this machine one day.
Just got time to read all the posts before I go for a swim.
I believe this one is tough. Can someone please tell me that isn't so?

Shades- I have seen you about and you did not look like a stalker.
(Although I don't know what the average stalker looks like.) I'm quite sure you are safe.
Thank you waccyracer, although I don't know what a stalker looks like either!

Shades,
Too tough for my old legs and too close to last Marathon plus I wanted to take Poppy with me this time.
