You mean somewhere in that narrow, twisty little bit where the locals manage to wander nowhere in particular while occupying the whole width of the path, even though they are on their own?
Geography means nothing to the winds of Thanet! On my first run I soon discovered that because its in your face on the way out you cannot count on it being at your back on the way home. It's a real lucky dip, that's why our races are so interesting!
For those of you looking at the GPS height data and worrying.
The elevation data from GPS is notoriously up-and-down compared to the real thing. So although it looks like you will be continuosly running up and down 25 feet hills. You won't be. The overall pattern is about right, but its a lot smoother than is shown!
Keith LScintillating company, sea "breezes", a day out by the seaside and a "host of golden daffodils", what more could you ask for? I suppose being a bit mad also has something to do with it.
Scotty might be as well to bring some - we have just been informed that the catering van we had booked won't be allowed on site - we had only booked it as Pfizers weren't doing anything!! However there is the Viking Fish & Chip place next door to race HQ.
Also the parking venue is likely to be very very crowded so I would get there early!
Is it me, or does the wind forecast seem to be picking up for Sunday. I remember this happening during the race a couple of years ago, and then it hit me full in the face for the brassica section, and I spent longer among the cabbages than was strictly necessary.
My source is now showing a forecast of 22mph at 9am and dropping to 14 by noon, whereas before it was showing about 25 for most of the day. You will hardly feel 14mph
I've had a stinking cold this week The snotty bit has passed but now it's all gone a bit chesty. Am taking all the appropriate drugs to shift it and am crossing my fingers for being 100% on Sunday. Mava is running on Sunday, so either way I'll be there anyway. I got a pb at T Wells last week so I was hoping to do the same at Thanet. FINGERS CROSSED.
no tracey she will be flying the race computer and generally helping out at HQ.
I will be out on the course marshalling and dishing out jelly babies. I must say it was a tad windy this morning while we were out setting up the course.
Mark - Thanks for all the efforts of the marshals - a great effort.
Thought in places it was a hard course to marshall as twisty in places but the guys did a great job. All in all a super race and luckily the wind while challenging in places dropped enough to not ruin it.
If it was you at the top of the hill just before mile 16 thanks for the jelly babies! Came in really useful.
Hi Guys - sorry about the mistakes in the results - the computer programme struggled to cope with the COunty Champs race being run within the main race and I cocked up
Still a good turn out and most people seemed to enjoy it - WELL DONE to the lady who finished with our tail end charlie - this was her first race and she only started running in September! Most people pick a 5k or 10k!
The correct results should be up on the website in the next couple of days.
ooops - now I'm going to eat a large slice of humble pie tonight! Well done indeed to the lady bringing up the back of the pack slot!!! I'm with the current Mrs F though in that most people traditionally pick a slightly shorter route. Now anyone that nuts should join Thanet Road Runners - or even take up triathlon!!!
Keith L - glad the JBs helped! They certainly seemed to be quite popular at my marshalling point. It was lovely to be in the yellow bib for a change (popped my marshalling cherry today) and realised that most people really do say thanks and give a big grin/thumbs up to the marshalls - even 3/4 of the way into a long run. Thanks all for grinning at me - made my day!!
Always try and say thanks to the marshals on the way around...sorry if I missed anyone.
Great effort by the marshals but dwarfed by the lady who ran this as the first one! Stunning. Think I said hello to her on way round but she still had a long way bto go by then. Well done to tail end sweeper for guiding her around.

SCdeC just past there just after the compound where the sailing dingy's are stored.
BBC weather currently shows 10 deg sunny spells and 29 mph westerly winds
Every liklihood the weather forecast will change at least 5 times before sunday.....
Should all add to the fun of the event anyway

yes I remember doing Thanet 10 afew years ago.....the headwind was something else...but I got a pb thanks to the tail wind on the way back!

Thats a relief David as it looked more like a mountain challenge than the kent coast!
Now remind me why I am doing this again
Because you love running.
Will there be hot food at the race HQ ? Just wondering whether I should bring some food of my own to munch on before the long drive home. Cheers

This is current Mrs F posting - we did the route today as a training run - it was BRACING but the daffodils are lovely!
Enjoy tomorrow

Good Luck everyone
Hopefully the wind is dying down just a tadge but what will be will be....
Good luck everyone - give me a push on the up hill bits

Well done to that lady.
Mrs F - Go and get yourself a nice glass of wine.
