If I am right it was pretty much after the finish, you were with a Laura I think in Union Jacks? I have to say I was bit fagged myself given the heat of the day at that stage. I was the Irish chap who was just about able to say hello.
I think one should wait a good hour before speaking to anyone after a race. My brain was not really all that engaged. I do hope to see you after the Amsterdam finish, but I think I will leave a few hours between the end of the race and any real conversation beyond 'great race' , 'Yes' and ' a bit trired now'.
I'm in... has anybody booked accomodation yet? Where are people staying? Heading over on my own so it'd be good to stay somewhere with some other Brits in the hotel!
Noel: This is amsterdam at a weekend. There'll be plenty of brits. I haven't booked a place yet, but I always go for something central or maybe even near vondelpark. The start and finish are within walking distance. But if you are staying central, there are no problems in getting to the stadium.
Were flying out Friday evening and returning Tuesday AM, thoght we may as well make a break out of it. Looking forward to seeing Amsterdam by "black" bike too, didn't get the chance last time I went, spent 4 days in the Rai exhibition centre.
There usually seems to be a strong contingent going to Amsterdam from here. Around that time of year both Amsterdam and Berlin are quite popular marathons. I'll be heading out on Friday evening and back Monday afternoon. That has usually worked out well.
I've entered the marathon - first time on this course for me. I intended to do it a few years back but took advantage of the option of switching to the half on the day because of a calf niggle I didn't think would last out the full course. It's the only major race I've ever found where you just turn up and run whichever distance you want!
Haven't booked any accommodation or flights yet. I've got the Edinburgh marathon to get out of the way at the end of May so I'm trying to concentrate on that rather than the next one! I think AMS is probably the better chance of a pb though.
It's worth checking if you're not confident of finishing the marathon when the time comes. The option to drop down to the half was explicitly mentioned in the info they gave out at the expo. You didn't need to register/re-register, just turn up at the half start. I watched the marathon on the local telly then jogged down to run the half. They do mention on the website that you can change your registration in advance too.

Now I am excited and it is months away.
We booked into a lovely B&B .... well the pics on the net look good!
Heres hoping!
We've booked at this hotel.
Hopefully it'll be alright
Were near the Vondel Park too;
B&B
They have a coupleof houses that are run as B&B, central and look good!
ta daaa I found you
I'm more and more drawn to this... I think I'll start looking at hotels
Follow the link above, we are staying in that particular b&b. (not the "treetops" sister b&b)
The icing on the cake for me was that suddenly the penny dropped that Amsterdam is flat! I know thats a pretty shallow reason....
Wicked! Seems there will be a few of us then.

Hello,
I'm having a think about doing this one too .Haven't really done a foreign marathon yet, and I'm keen!
Seems to be quite a few marathons on the 19th, but I've shortlisted either this one or Reims

I have signed up for this one - my first marathon! Is the AA drink readily available in the UK?
Most importantly then, who's up for pre race/post race drinks?!
Me!!!!
LOL

Anyway - no-one here will be unprepared I'm sure
And as for drinks.. yes! Post-race at any rate.
I'm definitely up for post race drinks... and maybe pre race meal?
Pre race meal and post race drink. This is sounding more interesting .
I'm planning to make a weekend of it too. Maybe travel out Friday and come back Monday. I'm trying to see if I can do it by train.
