I see there will be sandwiches available at the end of this race, will there be any left for the run/walk finishers??? Or will they be all gone by then?
Its called the Blackpool Gazette This is in answer to a previous post on page 8!!!!
Can someone tell me how to quote??? lol
Like this:-
Go to the post you want to quote and click the "Quote" button. It should turn red and say "Unquote". Then go to your response box and click on the quote symbol (hover and it'll say "Insert stored quotes")
Thanks Mrs DF - someone kindly gave me the link earlier - but it was a nice thought nonetheless.
I did the York (Brass Monkey) half last weekend in 2:09 which isn't good, but like a lot of people was fighting off a virus and have never felt so tired at the end. Oh well - got round and the "man bag" prize at the end is great.
James - thanks. I tried that once and it wouldn't let me type my stuff outside the box so I thought it didn't work. In fact I just tried again and if I try to edit the quote BEFORE I type my bit, it doesn't let me type anything. But if I type my stuff first, then sort the quote out - it does.
Thanks! Am really looking forward to it!! Did my long run of 8 miles last night and I felt good, so am starting to feel confident about the distance now! My longest training run will be 10 miles...
Just got my race number today. On the accompanying letter it says that there will not be any chipped timing but it will be done by UKA timekeepers. Can anyone tell me how this is done. Do they have a fancy video camera recording the runner's numbers and so they can allot the times? Or is it loads of people with clipboards and stopwatches? I am just interested to know as i have only ever entered two races and both were chipped timing. Also I assume they can only give you one time from the start and not when you crossed the start line (I will be starting from somewhere near the back).
Its loads ( well a handful) of people with stopwatches and clipboards reading out numbers at various points of the course and possibly a video at the finish line
I've done this race a couple of times before and it's just been people at the finish, marking down your time. No fancy video, but usually a photographer to capture your agonised look as you cross the line, so that he can try to sell it to you later!
Ok poorly feet my walking is getting faster and I can jog a little now may be back to work next week but part time for a month but getting my normal pay

Mrs Doubtfire,
Where did you find out there are going to be sandwiches?
Am doing this race too! I am a bit apprehensive but I will give it my best shot, and the idea of mile pacers is a great one. I was wondering if anyone knew what drinks they give you on the course, and whether they are in bottles? I can not drink from cups (when running, obviously I can normally!), so was wondering whether to run with my own bottle.....or whether I will even need it??? What do you reckon?
Mrs D - don't worry. I was there last year (or maybe it was the year before?) and watched the last finisher cross the line. The timekeepers were still there. As Soup says, "It is unlikely that lightning will strike twice in the same place"
There's nothing worse than watching a race when you're injured. I once booked a weekend in Bridlington to do the half-marathon but hurt my back beforehand. Watched it start then came home early cos I couldn't bear to wait for the finishers.

They'll all be gone by then cos I'll have eaten them all!
Before I head across the prom for donuts...

Bingo - success!
Give it a try
Once you have quoted...then place your curosr inside the quote and then use the normal way to delete..like so..

Thanks for that - I'd given it up as a bad job

Cheers for the reminder MT - I forgot to mention the clock! Take it easy with your recovery - and enjoy your return to work

Hi everyone

hi panda,
it will be cups on the course and willprobably just be water so if you cannot drink from cups when running, I'd definitely take a bottle.
Hi
Thanks very much DD. Not sure how essential it will be at this time of year, but I will bear it in mind, I just can't do cups, it ends up all over me!
Cheers
Don't worry Mrs Doubtfire, it's my first half and I'm planning to go with the 11min/mile group as well,
I think there was someone else on the forum said they were joining that group

I'm a terribly bad sport I'm afraid
Ive just entered! My first half...quite nervous now ive entered but thinking I will enjoy.
Works perfectly for my FLM training plan.
Has anyone got a good link to the official race start point/ advised parking places? Parents will be dropping me at the line
Cheers!
