26 miles down the Toon, at the end of November??? You are braver than me!!
ps..what is the course????
Cake, the course will include some fairly narrow paths (two people walking abreast) which is probably why only 100 are being considered. Having said that I've taken part in a 10K on the Town Moor where the numbers were more than that and it didn't cause a problem.
Just phoned the number on the web site and spoke to a very nice chap who's said the same. He said about worries with people trying to lap each other as well. Hope this can get bigger through there needs to be more marafun's up north.
Right off to find a cheaque book. Needed to track one down as it is because need to pay a cirtain pirate £4 before they get fed up.
I've had my entry confirmed.
5 laps of the Moor at the end of November sounds a bit daunting, but I couldn't resist doing a marathon where I can walk to the start from my home. I'm still puzzled as to how you can get a 5mile+ lap out of the place, but obvioulsy you can.
I was wondering the same thing Ian. It must be a figure-of-eight or something.
If anyone's thinking of entering who doesn't know Newcastle, I wouldn't want to put them off but just be aware that you won't be running through or near any of the sights in the town or quayside.
Graham, on the plus side, it will be flat !
As for sights, what do you mean? There is the Exhibition Park Boating Lake and the Military Vehicle Museum. And you will probably get to see them 5 times, which should be enough for anybody
And I wouldn't fancy trying to run through the Quayside market. In fact I did try it the other Sunday, not a good idea.
Going to send my entry off tomorrow.
Hope I'm not too late
How could I forget the Military Vehicle Museum? Somehow I don't think we'll be seeing any iconic photos of runners going past it with the Red Arrows soaring overhead though....
hey, good point about the loos
:MTM
The drinking bit sounds good.
A stroll down the Great North Road and you have the seven pubs of Gosforth High Street (6 at present as the Northern Lights is boarded up)
Form went in the post this afty.
I think a few 'refreshments' post race would be fine and dandy. Plus a bimble along Gosforth High Street would at least keep the old legs 'ticking over' as it were
Cake...I think most folks would agree it would be rude not to!
I do hope its not full, although I have emailed them to find out if there is any possibility that the entry numbers might be increased. You never know.
Wahey!! I'm in!! Confirmation email received this morning. Didnt take Mr Postman long to get my entry there.
Apparently there are 70 entries gone already.
Im gonna meet Corinthian
AT LAST!!!!!!!!!
5 laps - so so boring!
watch out too - while you're doing the 5 boring laps the locals will be nicking you're motors!
I'm in too!
I'd best inform my parents that I'll be staying with them that weekend...
I'm looking forward to this one too
Marathon virgin...eeek
