but under/around 12 stone?? you'll end up looking like keg-killer!! seriously, I'm not sure you're a natural 12 stoner as an ex-rugby player and 6'+ so you may find you could lose too much power by knocking the weight down that far.
This is true FB. I want to get to the point where I look ripped if you can see what I mean. I don't mean this from a vain point of view (well ok, slightly), but just that if you can see your muscles, then you know there is no excess weight. I have a feeling that might be around 12 stone, but we will see. Anyway, I had 8 cans of guiness Saturday night and I am still hurting now. The weight loss will have to wait a few weeks
NIce report and race Mike. the balance is certainly coming and you are getting quicker. Who'd have thought you would go that speed wehn we first me in the Lakes and you were as slow as ferk, especially up the hills on the bike ?
Just been told that bro-in-law has invited us to help celebrate his 65th birthday, trouble is, his birthday is 3 June and he's going to Cyprus, 5 weeks before IMDE. That's right at the end of training and just before the taper - help! Going to be very tough not to succumb to boozing it up. Time for some iron will!
Been training on a specific IM plan since the end of October, everything's looking promising so far although I'm still a tad worried about making the 1st lap cutoff. My swimming has improved loads, I did a 2.5km on Saturday in exactly 1 hour which is light years from where I was this time last year. I've taken my 1km time from 25:04 to 23:20 and last month swam under 2 mins for 100m for the very first time! Yes, I know it's still not earth-shattering but looks a lot different from my previous IM best of 1hr 52. Cycled 120km in 5 hours yesterday followed by a 6km run - endurance is not in doubt, it's speed!
Good quality swimming there Ultra-Ironwolf, a 2 min saving over 1km is a great improvement.
Its our first Open Water swim session tonight, is pouring down and cold here so the prospect of jumping in a lake tonight at 7pm doesn't fill me with enthusiasm.
I raced my local clubs 10k on Friday night, its a very hilly and tough course so I was very pleased to finish in 42:50 which is 2 mins faster than I've ever ran on that course before.
I then spent the weekend practicing taking the bike to bits and packing it up ready to take to Germany.....I also managed to ride it a bit as well
Did my first training cycle since November this morning 90 km followed by a spinning class (which I'm mentally equating to another 20 km). Now just need to double it and add in the other bits. As Holgs says, base fitness should see me finish but I'm unlikely to PB.
not bad physically. Mentally have a lot of CBA'ed days but glad I got out on the bike yesterday and 18 mile run this morning so hopefully things are turning around just in time. Looks like things going brilliantly for you though. Delighted to see all the hard work put into swimming is paying off.
I'm actually looking forward to IMCH. usually I grin and keep going when I meet the pirate support machine but this year I intend to stop for a chat Barley style
