I am tempted by this one if someone else will keep the sweep bus company as I had it for the first 6 miles last year chugging just behind me. Only fair someone else takes a turn, or perhaps I should just train even harder and out run it,. Overall a really friendly and well organised run last year.
I have just entered this event. I was planning to do Worksop but due to work commitments have decided to do this one instead. I thought it would be a good idea to try and keep my fitness up and training focussed at a time of year when I really struggle - I'm sure I was born in the wrong climate.
Have done Newark and Nottingham this year.
I don't know the route so will do a recce before the race so I know where the hills are.
I`m still tempted to do this although I`m racing virtually every weekend it seems. I`d heard Clowne has some long tough drags - ? I`m intending to be there anyway to support a friend. Does it always get full?
phoenix 44 - no need for recce..get the route off the webpage and plot it on mapmyrun. hey presto you'll get an elevation profile. save time, petrol, environment and money.
I saw you mick and phil the marathon lads at Leicester at the week end how did you do ? how do you rate this race compared with leicester ive never done this one ?
Seriously there isn't that much between Clowne and Worksop IMO, yes Clowne is slightly tougher but how much of that is the fact that at Worksop you have the beautiful Clumber Park to take your mind off the running a little, Clowne being a little less scenic I don't know.Or maybe I am just trying to make you feel better
I might give this one a go as I'm not too far away in Nottingham.
Echo what others have said about the t-shirt. It's a nice touch but would be good if we all got a mug or something. I've not done a race that gives those out. Personally, I'm happiest with a medal, even it's a cheap one, as long as it's something you can store easily and act as a memento.

this is my local ish half marathon
and run by a rival club to
but its a great half marathon to do...
i remembering geting my pb on this course many years ago.
very friendly people and marshalls
could not ask for a better race
the hill at 8 1/2 takes some geting up..about 50 m long
and the last 2 miles is allways windy
but great views along the way
il be doing this yet again.
hope to see you all there
How many entries so far? And how far is the fun run? Ta!
Hi Everyone,
I have just entered this event. I was planning to do Worksop but due to work commitments have decided to do this one instead. I thought it would be a good idea to try and keep my fitness up and training focussed at a time of year when I really struggle - I'm sure I was born in the wrong climate.

Egyptian toe
this race always gets a lot of runners in but there are hot showers after race Lewis Banton who has posted on here is the best bet to ask
hi all im in this one just did worksop today 2hrs 3mins
hoping the weather is slightly warmer than last year
see you all there
hi all, i'm in too, did Worksop yesterday too 2hr 8m.
not sure about them there hills, really too flat round me to get any decent hill training. still it's character building i'm sure...
Hi Jo Jones
We ran 2:15 at Leicester i think, but we took it steady for two reasons
ONE - i get fed up of race pace, and sometimes just run for fun
and TWO - we had a FM the following week, in which i coached a new runner friend around
as for comparing Clowne to Liecester, ooohh, Clown is the tougher -No doubt about it
micknphil
I do it for fun now not at race pace and mainly in yorkshire as I love hilly races
Howzabout Clowne vs Worksop in terms of toughness? I've only done Worksop before but have entered Clowne this year.
We've done Worksop and Clowne many times
in all honesty, for toughness , my view is that Clowne is the slightly tougher
but then that's only my opinion
See you all soon
only *slighty* tougher
fair enough I'm happy with that, cheers!!
Personally I'd say this was a fair bit tougher than worksop but not overly challenging
shimola
how's you
running is like everything else in life, it depends on what one views as what
and only training and expereince will over come it all, with a balanced mind of mental stamina
I'm fine thanks.
Good advice Mick.
Might do a few hill reps tomorrow!
I'm with Shimola, having just done the Worksop half and found it harder than i was expecting, you're not cheering me up here!
Hill work it is then...
End of the day it's not overly challenging just a bit bumpy in places, nothing to be scared of .
Number through this morning, 431 I think it was.
I might give this one a go as I'm not too far away in Nottingham.
