Bit harsh isn't it. D2D says she has a PB for a HM distance, mapmyrun is pretty accurate against Garmin in a 2D perspective so should be ok. OK so perhaps it's not race conditions so what, just because you don't jump up and down when you run faster over a given distance on a training run doesn't mean D2D shouldn't. The proof will come when she competes in a number of months time against Mr Puffy.
mapmyrun may be "pretty accurate" but the whole fricking point is that it is not wholly accurate, otherwise you could get a certificate of accuracy for a race by simply going onto mapmyrun. My 4 mile route turned out to be a 3.75 mile run. Still, at least I'd done a '24 miler' before my first marathon and not a '20'. For someone running 7.30-8m/m, a course which is 0.25 of a mile out will be a 'pb' by the best part of 2 minutes. If each lap is out by 0.25 mile then the error is doubled.
a PB is a PB no matter what it is and where it is done. If I knock 2 mins off my 5k pb I would celebrate whether it was a race, training or police chasing me.
an official pb is better but sooner have "unofficial" one than none at all. I cringe at the traffic warden mentality of some here I must admit.
Joolska, how very unfortunate for you. For me mapmyrun is pretty much spot on compared to my Garmin when comparing distances. Tough luck on your part there I guess
Running - it may seem harsh on d2d but she's been pretty harsh in the past - plus she made a mistake in the past measuring one of her runs. Plus - this is a phenomenal improvement on her pace and not even when she was racing - just taking it steady. I hope the time is true as its fantastic - but I am just a teensy bit sceptical.
At the risk of alienating myself in my very first thread (hi, by the way!) i reckon D2D is quite hot - even if she does appear to be a pain in the date!!
Did anyone see QI the other week? I wonder how long it's going to be before someone mentions the Nazis!!!
Just out of interest, what's your relationship to D2D?
ex boyfriend?
stalker?
someone with way to much time on their hands, who like to lurk on running websites and thinks that posting pictures of other members will ingratiate themself and make them popular with everyone else?
I don't think that there is anything wrong with being proud of improving your time in a training run but maybe tone it down a bit and really celebrate when you manage that in a race.
I think the other issue was that a 10k time was posted not too long ago that would suggest that the HM time was impossible, hence most people doubting the length of the training run.
D2D certainly doesn't go easy with opinions to others so you can only expect the treatment back that you give to others.

This thread is horribly addictive...

Being sceptical is one thing, whats going on here is different.

So you've never had days when it's all just clicked
Must admit I'm enjoying this thread more than the broken femur thread.
Nowt wrong with the way D2D looks btw - I normally look like I'm gonna be sick, or kill people in my race photos
I normally look like I'm gonna be sick, or kill people.
I've said it before, its the D2D cycle all over again for the umpteenth time.
Post provocative post
Pull the bullying card.
Flounce.
Return.
Rinse, repeat ad nauseum.
This is why we keep reading though
And yes Running, I've had days when runs have 'clicked' but not to the extent of 9 mins.
D2D - you're not a bad looking sort at all in my opinion.
I'd certainly slip you one and I'm sure we could find something to put in your mouth to keep you quiet.
Who said romance was dead?
You smooth talker Moraghan.
But I have to agree, D2D is a good looking lady.
Time for a new thread perhaps D2D? Hot or not.
I reckon you'll get more hots than nots, but I still don't understand your non training programme thing.
Maybe this is the non training programme thing she's on about:

The third bit about not training to a peak but just keeping your training cycle to 2 weeks or so??
