Oh and ET - like with Dids I'm afraid I think your foot / shoe issues go beyond my level of expertise! I do know that at Accelerate they get a podiatrist in so you would hope that they know a thing or two about running.
The forearm isn't too bad - I can actually move my hand now without wincing so that's a bonus. My elbows however spent the night reminding me how much I use them to turn over in bed.
My hips are the sore bits on my legs today. I'm guessing (hoping) that this is because of a lot more sideways movement than on a normal run. Planning on running home to see if that loosens them off a bit.
ET - sorry but I've no knowledge at all about orthotics/support shoes etc. I'd second the thought that you should go to a podiatrist who knows about running.
I would also recommend Pilates or Core Stability exercises. It won't offer a magic cure but if you can get your running form to stay true even when you're tired then it can only help. This is very much opinion based rather than being based on any scientific proof as I've been lucky with not needing support shoes for running in.
The podiatrist I saw I picked up from RW adverts and a net search so I guess he`s pretty good. I know what you mean Baz, and I`m working quite hard on the core and pilates stuff and I shall continue to do so.
When do they have the podiatrist at Accelerate? That sounds like an avenue worth investigating although I`m not keen on the lack of makes there.
ET - not sure when the podiatrist is in, probably worth giving them a call or dropping them a line on FB to find out. Just noticed that their new website is online, or at least the front page is, all the other pages behind it still look like they're under development at the minute.
He's usually there Thursday, but you could go direct to where he works (Holywell Healthcare in Chesterfield www.holywellhealth.co.uk and his name is Colin). he is a runner also I believe and you may feel happier seeing him independantly (i.e. not at Accelerate) though I saw him there and only got the Orthotics, no shoes.
Thanks for the advice. Don`t really want to make another private appointment but would like the specialist advice when I get some new trainers, if you see what I mean so might try Thursday in half-term possibly. PJAZ - so you use orthotics? Are they `off-the-shelf`? Any good?
Cake - bunions are like when your big toe starts to angle inwards and this results in a lump on the inside of the base of your toe. hmm hard to explain . . .
Aitch - hope the obs went well. Not long until the hols!
Just through plum if Wednesday is good and you want I can book you in for the spinning Bex is going to at ponds forge. Makes on odds if a member or not just they don't let you book before the day because they are rubbish and will be in there in the morning so can make sure your on the list. That way you can err train and then swim?

Morning all.
Sheils - Hope the knee twinge is nothing serious. Well done yesterday on both the race and your success at the AGM, what a fantastic day!
Baz - how's the arm today?
I don't know about everyone else but my legs are feeling quite wrecked after yesterday!
Good luck with the first day back Dids, just take it steady.

Sheila - congrats!!!
ET - Thursdays from 2 O'clock.
Ooh! Saw a photo of Sheils receiving her reward - that's some mother of a plaque!
Home your first day back goes ok Dids an dthe arm settles down Bazzer.
ET can I be slightly rude and ask what are bunions? Been lucky and never had the problem.
Bex should be going tonight but like a muppet forgot to bring kit so if traffic back to mine bad might all go horribly wrong.
Hope you've got a big Mantlepiece Sheils for all the trophies you got for 2009!!!!!!1
I saw Colin at accelerate thurs before holiday, which means he will be there this week.
I'm going down the route of orthotics and new trainers....
JJB have got a 20% discount on all their running gear (clothing, shoes, accessories etc and all brands) - in-store and online.
Just in case you need something.

I had to ask.
