I almost had a total disaster today on my last 4 mile run. I was running round the corner back into my Mum's street to finish off, when some young kid on his bike came flying down the street straight into me. I managed to get my hands out to try & stop him but still got hit on the left shin. Thankfully there doesn't seem to be any major damage, just feels a bit tender & will probably have a lovely bruise for Sunday!! My language was unprintable!! 18 weeks of training almost wiped in one second!!
Apart from that I have been enjoying the start of my carb loading & can smell the lasagne almost ready in the oven! Then I need to get some packing done, I always take far too much but like to be ready for every eventuality. The weather forecast still seems pretty good, dry & calm, just what we want!
Is there still any takers for a sub 4 group? I'm going to give it a go, so if anyone cares to join me they're more than welcome!
Wow Heather...that was close! Glad you're okay! Would love to join you on your sub 4, but I have to be realistic! Ha Ha! Hoping to come in under 5 at the mo....and if it goes drasticllay wrong...simply to beat the sweep vans would be great!
I am wearing white vest with blue and pink polka dots...Dorothy House Hospice on it! I have "Ali" printed on the front and back too! Mind you...my race number may cover that! Anyway,I will be looking out for people on here....would be good to see some forum faces!
Not long now. I've had a slight niggle in my achilles since Monday so skipped my planned run for yesterday and my cycle commute today. It has felt better today so I'm sure it'll be fine. I had planned a gentle 4 miler tomorrow but am tempted to skip that too, there would be nothing to gain from doing it and don't want to risk any damage.
I'm still looking for sub-4 so would be happy to join any group at the start.
I haven't done any running this week! Have a bit of a scratchy throat, so don't want to risk it! I'm prob over-doing the carbo loading though! I do love food! Hope it doesn't make me feel really heavy on sunday Reading about all the runs you lot are doing this week is making me feel a bit nervous!
Its not all of us running Alison. I've decided that giving the calf a rest is the best thing I can do, so in this week I'll probably only have done one run - a club run on Tuesday.
Figure the potential for damage from a poor run is greater than the fitness I'll lose. Just doing other stuff, bought a medicine ball and use it whilst watching the box.
I've hit the muffins and pecan slices this week. With the kids around its not so much carb 'low'ding as carb 'high'ding
Alison, I wouldn't worry about it. You don't gain really gain anything fitness wise from running in the last week, and it's best to keep runs in the final few days fairly easy. It's all the miles you've already done that will get you to the end. Think positively - your legs should be fresh and raring to go on Sunday. Enjoy your carb loading!
I`ve not run much. Did a good 10 mile on Sunday, a 4 with strides yesterday and might do an easy 2 tomorrow. I also was `klonked` a few times at work today so hope there`s no real after effects and I shall attempt to stay out of trouble tomorrow!
Thats K.P., Garry, E.T. & myself going to try for a sub 4. I'm in the blue start & my number is 11088 - I will probably be wearing a red & black "Larne AC" vest (unless its very warm & i'll go for a plain black vest which is lighter)
There's no pain in the shin now thankfully!! You feel like wrapping yourself in cottoon wool the last few days trying to avoid injuries, sniffles etc. etc!!
On second thoughts, I`m not sure whether I`d be a desirable member of a sub-4 group as I`m intending to run listening to my IPod and I`d not want to appear ignorant! IPods are allowed aren`t they?
going for as close to 4 as possible did great Yorkshire on Sunday but things didn't go as planed to many long runs not enough speed work
took my beginners group out for a run in the park tonight so only ran 1k myself no more runs planed till the big day ,boy the nerves are starting to kick in
is anyone going for a swift drink after for hydration purposes of course
Sunday and Monday will be dry and fine with sunny spells. Tuesday will start off dry, but it will become cloudy and breezy, with outbreaks of rain arriving.

I may be going at a just sub 4hr pace....
Probably get caught up in the event and try for it, despite any reticence I show on here<img />
Hi all,
Glad your shin seems to have survived Heather.

Hope everyone has a good last couple of days.

Yep. The wifes in bed now after a bout of throwing up, with a stomach bug......
Might kip on the sofa!
Odds are, on Sunday, I'll be in the yellow vest, as in the avatar

I will have my earphones on as well but would still be happy to have some company. Just give me a nudge if you want to say something to me!!!
In work until lunchtime then heading out for a carb heavy lunch with hubby - starting to feel like a blob already!

Just gotta get through Saturdays marathon first
I will be on my own in the sub 5 then. If I don't finish under 5 I will be jumping off the Trent Bridge.
