Alan that's great news about the major sports brand showing interest in the marathon training tops! Do you think you'll have more information on it ready for the half at the weekend?
Alan you'll be pleased to know I've just defended your honour in a Chester shop - that will remain nameless but you can probably guess - over 'your' decision to clash with the Chester Marathon. It's amazing the adjectives that go before the name Alan Rothwell these days! Can't say they were convinced but at least I told them it was LCC and also that I'd already signed up! Nyah, nyah! Nice blokes, just ill informed.
Stillwaters - that is precisely the problem! People make up their own minds about a running situation without knowing THE FACTS! Chester will be a great success. I have no doubt about that and I wish everyone taking part all the very best.
To hold me accountable personally for the current predicament is a nonsense.
It was also my fault for bringing back the Tunnel 10K, creating the biggest Festive Fun Run in the U.K. developing the HM to it's biggest ever. Oh, I secured the future of the old Liverpool City Council 10K, Women's 10K and Corporate Cup.
I think their adjectives are misplaced! Suppose an entry for the Chester Half is out of the question...
Very true, it seems people (few anyway) make various accusations with little evidence to back their argument, Alan if at anytime you wake up one morning with a horses head in your bed would you be kind enough to save it for me, it will go nice next to the mongoose on my dads wall.
I've also heard of some wild prices for RunLiverpool events. These people, when asked, haven't even looked at the website, or entered a race. I try to put them right but there's some people who you just can't tell.
I'm afraid I have no time for gossip and whinging. If the entry puts you off then don't enter. After all there are plenty of inexpensive races to choose from and they clearly cater for those who demand 'value for money'.
As many of you already know the entry fees for Run Liverpool events is directly related to the cost of delivery.
Did I mention LCC have withdrawn all funding for the Women's 10K and 5K Team Challenge events. They now contribute zero funding to any race event in the city. Good to see the tennis tournament is still being promoted!
Alan are you able to get anymore business sponserships for those events? Sometimes they jump at the chance once they reason it can be used as a tax break?
Cake - afraid not. Constantly searching but they are at risk because there simply isn't enough revenue generated. just looking at the thread about Bristol Half @ £30 entry fee and with a limit of 20,000 that is a whopping £600,000. A great revenue stream for their City Council. With that sort of revenue through entry fees you don't need sponsorship!!
So, all we need in Liverpool is 20,000 entries in the HM and all will be well!
What about changing the courses to keep costs low? Must be able to run them through a park instead of road? Apologies if thats what you already do, never ran the womans 10k wouldn't travel that far for a 10,000 metres.
Alan it is totally 100% your fault that I started running! Did a Santa Dash as a laugh, got the bug, Tunnel Run, Corporate Cup, Liverpool 10k soon followed. Half Marathon on Sunday and the big one in October. I blame it all on you mate!
Yeah, Alan it's your fault I'm still running. I only started running to lose a bit of weight. Now I've just finished training for the half. I'll have to start on the tunnel 10k soon. Then the runliverpool marathon, have you no conscience?
LCC really don't have a clue, do they? Sorry, I know that was stating the bl**ding obvious. Wonder if they'll realise that they've missed a trick & come grovelling back, Alan?
Have spotted that we're down to 199 days on the countdown, got bad case of the wobbles now
