Deffo aiming for Thorpe tomorrow. Might have to trudge on a bit of distance as Siggy is going to kill me next time with a zillion miles if he gets the chance. Am going for as early as I can.
OK guys, we have a new no 1 IMO in Thorpe. Went with Soup today.
Warm, clear, algae free, fish, changing, multiple hot showers, 3 courses (400, 750 & 1500 loop), food hut (which closes at 7.45 so we missed the grub again!)
The water is tested for suitability as well.
I know we were talking about Mytchett next week for the carvery, but given that we are actually out for a swim (sshh), I would be quite happy to do Thorpe again.
Rest is usual fayre, fiver, disclaimer etc. Oh and you can watch the water ski-ing too.
No doubt Soupy will be along later for her two penn'orth
How fab was that?? I've never felt so relaxed in open water before, it was so calm and quiet. Shame there is no pub on site but there is one just down the road if we really want pub grub. Compared to Datchet and Mychett there is just no contest. And you can dive in!! I'm deffo keen to go again.
Siggy, FWIW I do feel a bit guilty about Bar Hatch....
Thought for swimming, if we did a "pyramid" ie the 400, 750, then 1500, then 750 then 400, that's 3.8K. Sound familiar? A 5.45pm start and it's just about do-able.
Blimey - thats some target that I need to get a bit better and faster for but I like the idea. The 400m is nearer 440m I was told. But I'm up for a 5.45 start and doing as much as I can in the time.
Sounds good - I need to be doing 2000m now for the Vit. I was too late and had wrong goggles for a long swim yesterday so got to really bite the bullet and get some distance in now. But I'm very, very slow.......
Practise soup, take heart from your 13 minute improvement that you are getting there.
I'll give Thorpe a go at some point, Mytchett has the advantage for me that it only takes me 10 minutes to get home
Actually I'm not working next Tuesday so could get there quite early - what time does it open? Who ever finishes first can go and order the burgers before they close.
We went there this morning. It was lovely, almost too hot for a wetty now Saw some amazing wildlife. I love the fact the water is clear enough to see the bottom of what was an old gravel quarry.
The food lady had lost her key though and was waiting for re-inforcements so no bacon and egg butty
Ok, you are getting nearer to me. Goggle maps tells me that is about 30-40min drive (that's if I am googling the right place) so it's nearer than Mytchett. Pub sounds appealing and I do like a sociable swim.
Well, if I make water this weekend, it will be sea. But Thorpe is deffo in the diary for next week. Will try and minimise faffing and get in by 6 o'clock. Hour then food.
Be nice to kill that 1500M loop. I need to get up to speed for when Siggy tries to kill me.
I'd like to kill that 1500m loop. I know I can do the distance but its a mind thing. Nothing to sight on, can't even see where the loop finishes from the start area, and a vast quiet lake. But I'm going for it on Tuesday. It will be an adventure. Yep, in the water for 6pm latest.
Doubt I can make Saturday Schmunks - sorry (but maybe next week).
Saffers - you will love Thorpe. Well worth a trip.
I can do next Tuesday. Hubby reckons I will be sat in traffic but I think it will be fine. I am use to swimming in a lake with no bouys at all so it will be a little different.

Liking the food priority
I can't this week but if it's any good another week maybe.
Yes, cheeseburgers and ace bacon and egg butties. They also have a licence for a cheeky Smirnoff Ice too.
I want to do at least 1600m. Planning to get there 5.30 - 6.00. Hopefully in the water by 6. See you there. I'll wear my pirate cap.
And I want at least a bacon butty at the end.
Well, I'll have a go, but.......
Let me know how it is.
I'm at Mytchett tomorrow, if anyone else wants to pop along. Maybe next week we can all do it and go for the carvery to keep Saffers happy

Deffo a target for soon. Takers?
Lets go for the 1500 loop next week, then the 400. Slow & easy. YOu have to get used to the long'un at some point?

That's cause for a riot at that time in the morning HC!!
I'm up for the pyramid next week, see how far I get,.......
*lurks*
Funnily enough this is only a further 12 minutes for me compared to Datchet
Is anyone going on Saturday?
Be nice to kill that 1500M loop. I need to get up to speed for when Siggy tries to kill me.
And I quite fancy that Thames jaunt thing.
I'm in that anyway, go on you know you want to! Why is SIggy trying to kill you? Minimise faffing??? Are you sure you're DB?
The only lake I am going in is that rather large one off the South coast aka the sea

The coach there is Rick Kiddle. Said he had never heard of the Pirates though or seen the kit....
He can't have done that many IM races lately then! His blurb says thats what he does.
