How many phrases/commands does your dog understand
1. Stay 2. Go! 3. Sit 4. Paw (As in give me!) 5. Heel 6. Woods (As in, shall we go for a walk in the woods?) 7. Sausage (As in do you want one?) 8. Bo Bos (As in bedtime - I know, soft git that I am) 9. Car/beach/Chippy (As in we're off to the coast) 10. Rudie/rabbit/surfer - names of toys 11. Ah ah -(As in do that again and I'll turn you into a cushion) 12. No! (As above) 13. Bath (As in town in the South of England) 14. Cage - (As do that again and you're nicked for the day) 15. Charlie (His best mate the cat) 16. Pub! (As in we're off to the pub - a cause of great excitement and not just for the dog) 17. Whosat? (As in bark at that fecker at the door - he wants money!)
LOL Corrie... Dogs think in German... Cats think in French...
Actually I think in my house it's exactly the other way around... I could easily hear Kara with a slightly ditzy french accent .... Gestapo cat however....
How many phrases/commands does your dog understand - Flashie's list:
1. Wait 2. Off you go (as in for a run) 3. Sit 4. Down (as in lie down) 5. Come here 6. Park 7. Squirrels/Cats (as in look over there) 8. Wee-wee 9. Walk 10. Monkey (favourite toy) 11. Ah ah -(As in do that again and I'll turn you into a cushion - ditto!) 12. No! (As above) 13. In your bed 14. Leave 15. On you go (as in given permission to eat after leave command) 16. Up (on to the sofa/bed) 17. *whistle* for come here 18. Get busy (as in go to the loo now, we're out of time)
25. "Wanna go for a walk??" (the W-word results in 1 second stare then frantic activity, some running in circles, occassional throwing of lead to my feet...)
If I'm grouchy he stays in a different room and every now and again he'll look in If I'm a bit down he'll be in my face bringing me his toys If I'm concentrating working - he'll lie on top of my feet under the desk If I'm happy he'll follow me around tail wagging If I'm anxious - he'll sit staring at me and every now and again he'll let out a little whine.
I've caught him a few times studying my face when I come home to see what sort of mood I'm in. (I could be anthropomorphising here - but I don't think so)
If I'm watching football/rugby/cricket he knows the difference between a roar of 'goal!' 'Try' and 'Howzat!' to 'tackle him you useless tosser!'.
When my team does score he gets excited and runs around for a bit - when we concede he sighs (or that might be me!?)
Kara gets very anxious and whiney when I'm upset. I think to assume it's empathy or compassion would be anthropomorphising. The way I see it is that she looks at me as a pack leader, and she perceives my weakness as an indirect threat to her protection, that kind of thing? :-/
The Barney has landed. Oh. My. Good. God. Phrases numbers 1 and 2 of Bruce's will be put to good use over the next two weeks, methinks
LOL!!!!!!
Well Kara has a new trick... she can pick her own blackberries now...
When we go walkies and I pick some blackberries I used to give her the odd one because she seems to like them... Well little Ma'am has been watching that I only pick the dark ones... so now she sits there and veeeery gently puts a carefully chosen ripe blackberry between her front teeth, takes it off the bush and noms it... then picks another one... always picking ripe ones...
I'm home it cost me £180 extra and I was 4 hours late but I think I can say that, having had a lovely weekend, I am no longer crap at relationships at least for the moment.
The resident dog loved me. The friends were slightly warmer towards me. The family still need some work although the one who was very sarky last time was a bit friendlier (I suspect words have been had though nothing said to me) the one who was offhand last time was even worse but she is basically just rude and disfunctional so I don't think it's any worse with me. <shruggy shoulders>
