No doubt it will be publicised on the forum soon. Basically forumites in the UK vs forumites in the USA - see who can do the most mileage as a group. It's an annual event and is open to everyone, no matter what their ability. Keep your eyes peeled if interested.
The goals are lesser than last month, and the running one seems unambitious - but it's the month where I tend to give up for the year. Looking back at Fetch to 2006, my heaviest December was only 32 miles, so this will be a good incentive to keep going. In fact, this challenge got me out of bed at 6am into the dark, wet, windy and cold outdoors when every part of me wanted to be asleep in bed.
Day 1
Running Goal: 66.81 miles (to get me to 500 for the year - it was a slow start!) Achieved today: 4.5 miles Achieved total: 4.5 miles Remaining: 62.31 miles
Weight Goal: 11st 10lbs (to get to BMI under 25) Current: 12st 2lbs Lost today: - Lost total: - Remaining: 6lbs
Ok, I've set 2 goals, which should be realistic. Haven't done much running since GNR in September, so need to give myself a kick up the bum on that one........Have lost 1/2 stone in last 6 weeks or so (and got back into my BMI range), through cutting out the crap and would like to lose another 1/2, but need to be realistic as it's December, so.......
Morning Mundanies, nice to see you again, thanks for and hope you're all well.
mathschick - while the challenge is a competition between RW UK and RW USA, it's a great way of getting you out of the door in January and clocking up the mileage when outside conditions are not that inviting!
If you use the search function (if you can get it to work, mine won't) you'll find previous years' threads - there were some crackers in 2009/2010.
30 seconds of plank, 15 reps x 2 sets on triceps done. First run due once I've got No 2 Child into school.
I have had a cold/flu bug that won't shift and have had since last mon, so i'm not starting today as it will probably just set me back further, also my end goal is quanitifiable by my end of Decmber target, rather than a cumulative thing, so i've decided I will rest properly til the end of the weekend. I have contributed to my goal today by writing all my planned runs and gym classes into my diary from Monday til the end of the month
OK, I've had a good think about what I'd like to set myself as a challenge and settled on this:
To do something each day - run, cycle or swim. I'm allowing myself four pass-outs too (I don't mean fainting, I mean days off, which approximates to one day off a week).
I cycle to work most days anyhow, but this is the time of year I get lazy about it; copping out and getting the bus or begging for the use of the car from Mr F.
I too am going to do something each day. It might not be a lot - maybe just a walk or some stretches. I too will allow myself one rest day each week, not that I need ret days when I'm currently only doing physio exercises, but it allows me to take a few days off when family commitments get in the way.
My November challenge went to shit, so i'll aim to complete by year end instead!!! I want to lose 8lbs, which is probably a bit of a stretch, but hey ho. Or should that be ho ho ho...?
Ooh, can I join in please? I have three main goals
I want to lose at least 5 lbs from a starting point of 11 stone 11
No alcohol apart from Friday - Sun (which covers Christmas celebrations, thankfully)
And to stick to the training schedule unless there is a genuine reason not to (illness/injury, not weather conditions!)
december will be a critical month for me - I really want to get back into running shape, not use the time of year as an excuse for packing on the pounds.

I'll join in with the UK vs USA when it happens then!
1st day and 4.5 miles done, 95.5 left to go!
And so it begins...

1. Run 50 miles in December
2. Lose 3 pounds in December
Thanks Azacaya.

30 mins - slow and HR, but it's a start.
Again.

Good luck everyone!
Can I join in too please?
Between today and 31st December I will...
1. Go the gym every other day - even if its just for a swim.
2. Lose 7lbs before Jan 1st. That'll still leave me a bit of a chunker but not so much.
3. Not get swept up in all the stressy christmas stuff. Christmas is one day. There are 30 other days in December to enjoy!
8 / 70: 62 to go
5.5 miles run at lunchtime, followed by team Christmas lunch where I successfully stuck to water rather than wine.,
So far so good...
Day 1 -
3.5 / 50 miles done
0 / 3lbs lost
Cycled to and from work
Ran 4 miles
(Am congratulating myself with a small glass of ginger wine )
1/12 4 + 6.5 = 10.5 239.5 to go. Oh, poo, that looks like a lot. Bokkols.
Yup, managed to get out twice today. Good start!
3.2 / 100 kms done.
Only another 96.8 to go.
I'm starting off nice and easy (and how!). Rib seems to be holding up.
Probably won't have time to do my fatlek session this week. Never mind.
I've lost a bit more weight too, happy day.
Continue to do three runs a week.
Get a new driving licence.
Finish my worksheets and course work by Friday 9th December.
Complete the one challenge I didn't manage in November - sort out all the boxes of family stuff.
