Even though I was on the lash the night before and the wheels fell off big-time at 14 miles, I thought the new course last year was a great improvement on the 2 lapper we used to do.
Trying to get the other half to do it but she sooo doesn't want to be last and looking at previous results she might be in the last 10 (i.e. over 4 hours)
Seeing as I was 'lucky' enough to get pulled out in the club ballot for FLM last night I should be doing this one! BUT as I'm doing entries and results won't be racing it on the day - think we're doing it the week before instead.
hi scotty , a favour, have you looked at the FLM team thread? do you think its sounding a bit ellitest . the 'old' formurites think they have the right over new people to be part of the team.
Hiya bazzo, I've heard there's a bit of a hoo haa. I did sneak a peak at the thread this morning but really couldn't be bothered to get into it. I feel that as long as the chosen ones are prepared to report regularly on the forum then fine. I don't care if the RW forum member has never posted before as this will be a great introduction to the forum for them.
The downside of one of our more 'popular' forumites getting a place is that all their cliquey mates will be bombarding their FLM training threads with the usual load of old guff.
Ah, the Thanet 20. For the last two years I have reserved my best performances of the year for this race, and then failed to carry that through to the FLM; I just wonder whether I would do better to try a marathon on the same day as the Thanet in my ongoing quest to go sub-4...
But if I'm not, I'll be on here leading up to it giving all newbies the benefit of my long experience, particularly advice on what (and what not) to watch out for on the day.
(Actually, I've only run this race once, but I feel I know it SO well!)
<div align="left">"WORTHING 20" RACE - [10th Oct 2007] Due to the clashing with dates of other races in the region, the timing of the Easter weekend and, in particular, practical difficulties relating to the course itself, it has been decided not to hold the "Worthing Twenty" in 2008. If the technical problems can be overcome, a decision regarding the future of this popular race will be taken as soon as possible.
not 'popular' with me - any race that repeats itself so many times (is it 4 laps?) is one to avoid.
why, even Thanet learned about multiple laps - all it needs to do now is to have a circuit instead of an out 'n' back, and they'd be perfect! (now I never thought I'd be saying that about Than!)
Yeah Worthing was rather dull but I always did quite well there! That's a shame. Still I'm thinking about returning to the Coombe Gibbet - Overton 16 in 2008 which was fabulous last time I ran it.
I agree though Snoop - generally I hate lap courses...can't stand running past the finish line!
thank you for agreeing scotty & MF7, in the light of it i am not too sure i want to be a part of it even though i could of done with some advise, nem mind maybe big tim could help. scotty are you doing London?
bazzo, yep I'm doing London. Managed to get my first ever ballot place this time. Done it twice before though and always a delight to see what Snoop is wearing....and drinking at Mudchute.

Not doing FLM or a spring mara - but for some unearthly reason I do quite fancy another bash at this one.
Must be mad...

I'll be there for this annual pilgrimage!

Ole fetid breath started it, mf7!
..hey, you're never out of the spirit, Christmas or no, (my sources inform me!)
btw is that a moniker of Alfie Bass, by any chance?
Hi all
I'll be along for this again next year....who would want to miss the delights of Thanet in the Springtime?!
Any news on whats happened to the Worthing 20 miler - they seem a little late announcing their date this time round....
Hiya Birdypie, apparently it's cancelled according to their news page : http://www.worthingharriers.com/news.php

A shame as I was considering it for 2008.
