Agreed. I read 'go hard or go home' and thought go hard and walk home again. Looks like a 10min sacrifice on the bike (similar course?) and with a fitter Mike so probably more of a sacrifice in real terms translated into a 45minute saving on the run. Fair effort son I reckon.
C-Man - trust you to be only interested in the bike split. Shouldn't you be off shaving your legs or something?
Macca is now quoted as saying 'What a great race it had a non-Gaylord swim start and they even gave me a proper medal at the end. Probably won't bother next weekend now - just won't be the same.'
I guess its for the best 0 IMDE one week and then IMCH the next isnt great for me - and even worse on the wallet.
What happened to Faris UIW - last I heard he was smacking it on the bike and going away ?
Chrissie W is my new hero. She was in the Stands and the finish funnel all night - bopping away, signing small children, posing for pics even when it was peeeeeing down. Didnt see Macca down there !
I'm always amazed at pro cyclists who have a bad stage and they say 'well yeah - I've got the flu - so obviously I'm not 100%' - if I'm ill - I'm in bed with my lucozade and moaning for sympathy 24/7 - not climbing the alps...
Faris really should ditch the crop top. Its not good. And compression socks are spreading like a disease. NOOOOOO !

That gets my quote of the day vote. It might even bemy quote of the week and make it to the notice board in my office!
Cheers for the online support guys and girls. Just got back in the door, and am off to bed. Its been so long since i was hungover. Will get a race report together at somepoint in the next few days. Swim and run were fantastic, but bike was slow. Was a very windy day out there, and reckon that accounted for 15-20 mins over the last time I did it. I was holding back though with the run in mind, so maybe had i caned the bike I would have run another 5 hour. Anyway, will disect at a later point. Onwards to Lanza
I do about 2 and half days a week work and train the rest of the time. IMS is correct in that i have a coaching business too. The 4+ hour marathon will be addressed next year, but i very much doubt my bike split will improve much at lanza

As you ran.
all sounds entirely sensible and reasonable, which just reaffirms my thought that something went wrong on the bike

Wise words from a legend in the making.
As you were.
The web site was re-opened today for 500 more slots as promised, and has been closed again, all slots gone.

Are there gaylord points for compression socks?

Wonder if they'll be an order for pirate ones springing up on thie ere forum soon ? In the same pattern as the buffs.
cougie, if you think back, Faris said he had a virus when he didn't start in Hawaii last time - bloody longlasting virus, that.
