This was my first pirate adventure two years ago. Anyone going to join me this year?
Short - 45 miles ish
Medium - 56 miles ish
Long - 76 miles ish.
Would have done the medium or long but now I've signed up for the Ballbuster, might do the short and add a run on the end.

Grrr.... can't do :~(
It my mum's birthday and we are hosting. Would loved to have done a Sportive this year, not done one yet!
Did the medium one last year it was tough and quite cold but I loved it.
I will probably do it again this year
It's not that bad dear, Dunsfold is quite a laugh. Good flapjack.
I crashed on Dustboy corner (ergo the name) Brambles all down one side. Ow.
bu66er
We are down for a local 10k instead on the 17th, followed by the evans gatwick sportive the following week...... (24/10/2010)
Come on Saffers I did this last year and had to walk up Whitedown from halfway up not this year though HTFU
or you could do the short route that avoids Whitedown and just admit your a wussy girl
lol, I was thinking about this - fell off whitedown first year (note - don't do this if you've just had 6 weeks off cycling with a hand injury, and are on an old heavy bike that's way too small for you), got up it the second year - the reason it's tough is that it comes only a few minutes after going up Leith the hard way! When Dustboy says no other lumps of note I'd say he was telling porkies personally.... There's a short but sharp 20%er towards the end as well, which we didn't do the first year as we took a flatter route back to reach the finish before nightfall.....
If I do it am going for the middle, it's tradition.
*holds up hands* ....... I am a wussy girl! I like the idea of doing this one though....medium or short. I shall go plant some seeds in hubby's head to see if he fancies giving one of them a bash. I won't mentioned Whitedown though as although I just about did that one, he had to walk it and it may put him off.....hee hee.
Hmmm, interesting, how ropey was the route last year?, just the "make sure you have tyres that can handle the conditions" puts the willies up me a bit!
Also, anyone know if you can enter on the day?, or is it pre-entry only?
I think you can enter on the day but you had best check with the organisers.
Last year it was quite damp and cold and the roads were a bit slippy in places. There was two corners that I saw a couple of people come off but speed also had something to do with it
Its a good fairly traffic free route though
This is going to be a great pirate outing
List?
AH - medium
[giggle]
Lol Danowat re tyres - the first year I did it it was my first proper bike ride, Bassy told me ten mins before the start that my tyres were bald and needed replacing.
Then he picked my bike up and laughed at how heavy it was. In fact I blame him for needing mummy hugs from AH and Jj before the start.
I'm in for the short.
Hubby seems up for it......now need to see whether it's the medium or short......thinking I am a whussy girl though TG.
