I think you stopped being a 'boy' some time ago Dusty!! I've managed to get hold of a Pirate Trisuit. Crikey, it doesn't leave a lot to the imagination and you can almost see what religion I am!! I think I need to get a 'Linford Christie Lunchbox'!!
For info, the two shorter loops are long and the longest loop is short
Did one of each of the loops on Wednesday and my garmin measured them at approx 440m, 880m and 1480m.
Don't think the garmin is paricularly accurate on swim measurements but the shortest and longest laps are similar to previous occasions so probably about right. Hadn't done the middle loop before so have nothing to compare it with but, even allowing for losing my ability to sight on that loop, I'm not sure it's as long as 880.
I'd like to kill that 1500m loop. I know I can do the distance but its a mind thing. Nothing to sight on, can't even see where the loop finishes from the start area, and a vast quiet lake.
Soupy, there's some distinctive pointy trees at the far end of the lake which are easier to see than the buoys. A group of 3 to the left, rounded trees in the middle and a single pointy tree on the right. I initially aim slightly to the right of the group of 3, then to the left of the single one.
I've gone right off Datchett. Facilities are poor for the money you pay compared to other places and I think I heard it said that they don't test the water quality. I used to love it there and I agree it has nice friendly atmosphere so its a shame really.
Given the choice, I'll definitely take Thorpe over Datchet but mostly it depends on which day I'm going. I tend to do mornings rather than evenings though.
Intend on coming Tuesday, even though I have a lake 10mins up the road that is free and I can go any night of the week (although officially it's a Monday but sssshhhh). Thorpe is about 45mins in the car but could be longer depending on traffic. Tuesday shall be a social evening out with friends wearing rubber. Fantastic
Been meaning to give Thorpe a go all season, may well pop along next Tuesday evening if I can get away from work at a reasonable time as I like the sound of bacon butties
I'm still up for it and there had better be food, I'm always starving too. Just need to make sure at least one of us is out in time for last food orders
I don't finish work 'til 8pm so won't make it I'm afraid. Also had a bit of a disaster yesterday. Did something serious to my achilles yesterday playing cricket so off to see quack tomorrow. Feels like someone's given me a right kicking on it and can't 'roll' from heel to toe or walk without looking like a constipated duck.

Thanks Trogs. That fits with what Rick Kiddle told me - that the 400m loop is nearer 440m. I'll look out for trees then. Looking forward to it.

Trogs - going to Thorpe, although not quite sure of what dates he is referring to.
I can only ever do weekends as 1) I have a local lake 20 min drive away and 2) I am a 90-min drive from Thorpe but would do it for the social side
I did say I would be there on Saturday but will be going to Datchet instead
Is Datchet better now? Meface said it was decidedly manky last week.
Dusty leave the lists to the expert

Should I bring my whip? (walnut one).
Just to warn you Saffers, I got stuck in awful traffic last week but I set off a bit late. Fingers crossed it will be okay.
Lube and whips, sounding better and better.
Thanks Soupy, I intend to leave earlier than needed. I think someone mentioned a cafe so I can always have coffee or even go for a run first.
Recover well dude.
