I swam. I decided that the swim club is something I should delay until I have a bit of endurance back. There's no use getting demoralised before I start. After a chat with my marvellous mentor, I'm aiming to be confident enough to rejoin them by the end of September.
I found a swim set on beginner triathlete and got through it fairly okish I think.
Kick nearly killed me though (ouch).
Next swim session planned for Thursday morning. JFDI style
My name is Podds and following a year of CBA and a month of being poorly and really doing nothing I need to:
- shift half a forest's worth of timber
- learn to get up hills on the bike (see above)
- learn to love running (been trying for 20+ years but willcrack it!)
Am having another week off doing anything (bar 30 mins in Dover harbour this evening) to complete recovery and get some form of energy back and then start on the above
.....man the f up and get back to using my clipless pedals again. I got knocked off my bike just before I went to Afghanistan, irrationally refused to use them after and relied on the too busy to cycle excuse for aaaages. New bike is awesome but I've been riding with push pedals cos I'm a big scaredy cat and, lets face it, that's rubbish.
They went onto the bike on Sunday. I'm going out tomorrow...hopefully I'll survive to update!

Scared of cliping in pedals ... yet you went to Afghanistan???
My name is Blue Peter and I need to grow some cohonas when it comes to descents on the bike!!
going up I like the pain actually really enjoy hills but coming down is a nightmare. Got up to 38mph coming down Holme moss the other week. My mate did 49mph. I was bricking it all the way down
As most above I need to shed some weight, not masses but enough so I feel lighter when I'm running. Swimming needs work although I quite enjoy it but as above also need to stop being so bloody scared on downhills on the bike. I have told myself this week when I have fancied a Magnum that it is not sh*t in the sock behaviour which has worked quite nicely as a deterrent.
Ok, so training been good. Not sure about food this week. Few more treats than perhaps should have (cause we all love a little bit of cake). Weigh in tomoz, will see what happens.

You could hang around dairy farmer's that might work?
Turning yourslef in to a fish is cheating Meldy! I think you'd have to drag me Mouse, it would be quicker. Next time I'm down I'll bring my trunks.

Mouse I have it on good authority they are definately hanging around the twin shires of Leicester and Nottingham on any given weekend
does that mean I have to cycle up and down the boudary between Leicestershire and Nottingham all day every Sunday
Yes MC up and down Bunny Hill and across from Bradmore to Plumtree

60 lengths in the medium lane - didn't get kicked out for being too slow FTW! Tried increasing my stroke rate - that seemed to work well
Great work. Well done you.
Can I just say that I think your name is awesome and use it as a line all the time now?

Be able to cycle up hills
Run without getting injured
Keep a consistent level of training and not to wimp out at any easy excuse.
I shall be going for my third club ride tonight and I did my first run track session last night. I have now Fartlek-ed

any tips?
fastest I ever went on a bike was on a hill in Yorkshire, wasn't Holme Moss, at 43mph, I was '' concentrating'' , just practice I think
I need to stop writing up training plans and then not doing the sessions!

+1 for that
