I'm in the Washington Jefferson Hotel...In the middle of midtown New York, on West 51st Street

I've been looking at the previous page of threads...Lee C, looks like you may just have the edge on me I think... looks like overall, alot fitter than myself, if you're getting ready for IM stuff... plus with all the cycling and swimming... it could go to the wire me thinks ;-)

Now that's we've decided on the place to meet Sunday night then... we need to get some contact details set out... for

    MSN/email = pugheaven@hotmail.com

Be handy if we all have Internet access in NY as well...

If anyone wants my mobile number and we're going to need I think, to re-arrange if something happens... send me an email and I'll send it through.

I'd post my mobile on here, but it'll be picked up by Google within 24 hours and I don't want the world and aliens knowing my mobile number ;-)

Catherine S - The joys of running in East London! I work in the City but I can be seen running around Victoria Park most lunchtimes. I've only had kids throw stones at me a few times (dodging them helps with my agility).

Pug looks as though you are rising to the challenge of JV21 in the race then you have Rowans challenge to meet after the race!
I am in the Crown Plaza and willl try and make it for a quick drink but I know my party will want to drag me off elsewhere pretty sharpish. It would be great to meet the Forum crowd.

Catherine - I think Mrs B gave me a tip a few pages back about picking up really cheap tickets in Times Square rather than in advance. So I think it might be worth the gamble dont you? also I am not particulary worried which show I see so anything will please me! sad but true!

Hey 2old - do you think I can beat Pug?

Pug - I might join you for a beer if I can still stand after the run and after beating you (not!!!).

Else anybody around and arranging anything monday night?

Catherine S - Tried to get a room at Mansfield but fully booked so I will be staying at the W in Lexington...miles away but they have a good spa for a wonderful massage after the run..

I just spent my lunchtime looking at my training diary (very sad, but very true) and I'm stunned - I was very curious looking at people's records of runs and distance covered in training, and although this train of conversation was VERY NEARLY killed off by Dubai Dave (he he) I've actually done much more training for this marathon than I did for FLM earlier in the year:

miles covered in 2006 (so far): 617
    10 longest runs: 165.90
    5 longest runs: 100.5
longest run: 26.2 (or 20 in a training run)

PB's broken in 2006 (so far) - 10k, half and full marathon.

Maybe I have done enough to break 4 hours after all (with a strong tail wind etc etc)?! I also ran the first half of FLM listening to The Archers omnibus on my Mp3 to keep myself calm (again very sad, but true) so maybe this time I can try to go a bit faster in the first half and see what happens.

I'm sooo excited I don't think I'm actually going to make it to the start in NYC in one piece!!!

Hey All..Yes I have been hiding...I have been ashamed...after good traning for several months and an enjoyable Bristol Half Marathon, I haven't done my long run.. I haven't run for over two weeks now because of my bad knee!.. Gave way during the Swansea 10K.. I had been advised not to run by the physiotherapist untill this week.

I am still going to run/walk/crawl the race and I am looking forward to it..so if anyone else is looking for a slow running partner...count me in!! Sub 10 Hours...

This may impact my ability to come for a drink...or meal.. May still be on the course whilst you are all eating LOL...

I will keep posting from now on.. I have stopped sulking... Epecially after reading the past few postings...

Bagpuss, Catherine and Lynne. While you can buy tickets at the booths for an evening performance on the day, matinee tickets have to be bought the day before. Enjoy your show girls.

bagpuss, catherine and anyone else thinking about a matinee on staurday afternoon. You can get tickets from TKTS in times square BUT you will have to queue and it is a long queuee, also i dont know what time they open on staurdays to sell tickets for the Matinees. However, the conciege at your hotel will be able to get them for almost the same price a little more expensive as they put on their own commision but you dont have to queue up! last year we told the concierge what show we wanted and the price we had seen at TKTS he got us tickets for $2.00 more but better seats so it might be worth it!

Please can i add my name to the finnishers list - about 5 hours subject to the infection in my leg going -p i havent run for 10 days now and can feel everything going back to lard! Charlotte how are you doing are yuo still on no training regime too?

I might join up for the beers (actually make that cocktails... when in NY a cosmipolitan has to be had!) in the evening - can other halfs come too?

Thanks for the tickets advice everyone! Lynne/Bagpuss - I'm in NY on Friday so don't mind organising us tickets a day in advance.

If it helps to organise things my e-mail is: smithcls100@yahoo.co.uk

coronium - I've probably jogged past you in Viccy Park! I work at Canary Wharf and a standard run is up Regents Canal with a bit/some/all of Victoria Park tagged on to make a good loop.

Bax - so are Ruth and David going to make it then?

like some people say i just love to grt out side and train. But it comes at a cost. bad back bad hamstrings take care all on your last long runs. did mine today (Thursday) about 13.5 miles, felt hard. but glad its in the bank and some nice slow easy miles to come over next two weeks.
approx 60miles to go and it will all be over!
    well untill next time

Charlotte. Stick in there girl. It is amazing what a good rest does.

Oi Rowan. What ya doing nipping in front of me? Where's this 3.25 come from? I'll end up giving myself a heart attack trying to beat you now.

Coronium and Catherine. I work in the City too, just behind the Bank of England. I'm always a bit embarrassed running along crowded City streets in my shorts and skinny white legs. Sorry about the dog.

Nice one DD, wondered what you were doing skulking in the back after revealing that you were a 3.30-3.45 regular.

I got panicked this morning when milady asserted that I need a visa and Passport is about to expire - I nearly expired. False alarm, as I knew in heart of hearts, but got me going. Now all I need are tickets and regestration form..
A windy 5 miles this morning (the weather)starting to think about NY about every 5 minutes..

Catherine, I'm in New York on the Friday too, not sure what the best plan of action is for matinee tickets, dont mind what we see I'll just go with the flow. might be a good idea to swap mobile numbers so we can find everyone. Not done any running this week, i am just so k######ed. going out tomorrow though and my final long one on Saturday. just had an email from my charity, and my vest should be here in the next couple of days. Lets just hope it fits.

    Bax,

The registrations cards are on their way from NY - we (2:09 Events) got an email this morning with an apology for lateness from NYRR that the cards have been sent by courier on 19 Oct (today) and will be with us on 23/24 Oct. If you are travelling with 2:09 we will turn them around as quick as poss. and get them sent out by 1st class post.

I notice you have chosen our main group hotel - Crowne Plaza - to meet up on Sunday evening - I will be staying there too, we have 400 runners staying there, and look forward to meeting some of you and hearing your stories from the day.

Don't know where i've been!! haven't seen this thread before... I shall be travelling out on my lonesome and staying at the crowne plaza (supposed to be sharing a room with someone, should be interesting!!). would be good to meet up with you all after the race.

Don't know about you guys/gals but i can't concentrate on anything but my plan of attack for the race. This will be my first marathon so i just hope i finish in one piece!

    See you there..
