I did briefly consider Plymouth Half when my mother pointed out the Evening Herald said entries were going fast but I am now hoping to do a little 32 mile stroll around Dartmoor the following weekend instead.
Thank you all, I didn't see these meaasages earlier, thanks too for the texts xx
Surgoen today was very nice and explained everything quite clearly to me. Basically, there's a tumour of some sort in one of the lymph nodes in the right side of my neck. The PET and MRIs differ slightly in what they showed, but the node looked...not 'ragged' but not smooth, sorry mind blank.
I raised the previous needle biopsy and how that didn't show anything, but his reasoning was that this time, the radiographer would be looking under close ultrasound for a specific node to biopsy, rather than biopsying a non-specific "lump". Nurse L promised she'd take the request straight to Xray and try her best to get the appointment ASAP.
Depending on the biopsy, he'll then decide how to proceed with surgery, he wants to remove as small a group of lymph nodes as he can, without needing to go back for further surgery. It's complicated but he's done lots of similar ops. He said it could take anything from 10 minutes to 8 1/2 hours, and the scar will extend from my thyroidectomy in a C shape up to my ear.
Lovely! looks like I'll be asking for scarves for my birthday
Thanks again all for all the hugs, they're all very much appreciated.
I got a phone call yesterday from Xray inviting me to a scan and biopsy tomorrow just before lunch time. My support nurse called shortly afterwards, and she's going to try and get me in to see the consultant next week.
Feeling a bit stressy about it, but I know it's the only way forward, but the idea of lying there while someone sticks a needle in my neck is not pleasant.
I finished crocheting a fabby scarf at the weekend, dark teal colour in a narrow pattern that spirals round itself and goes 3 times round my neck. It's yummy!
(((kwilter)))...and (((((()))))) for tomorrow, just so as you're topped up. Tbh, I'd start to worry about your mental health if you said you enjoyed needles...apart from the knitting kind, that is...I hope the procedure is quick and painless and you get your results quickly xx
I thought of posting you a virtual box of chocs pic....or flowers....but then decided virtual quilt porn was the way to go. On googling images I got boring stuff and it made me realise how fantastic and unique your work is. No point sending you images of you own ...but the thought is there. Hope it goes OK.
Biopsies done, a bit bruised but not too awful. Radiographer was great, hardly felt the LA going in, but could feel the biopsy needles.
I felt a bit sicky afterwards, so had a couple of mugs of tea in the support centre, phoned in wimpy to work and got the afternoon off. I'm now sat on the sofa with the heating on full blast and snuggled under a quilt.
Just waiting for the follow up, but as i got in there was a letter inviting me back to ENT...at 3:30 today. I've cancelled that one

That sounds like you're moving in the right direction. I think dealing with uncertainty is the worst bit with medical stuff.
Just let me know when we're going scarf shopping!
((kwilter))
Lost for words.
It's horrible being in limbo. I hope they give you news and dates and confirm everything asap
Just nipping in to see how you're doing. Any idea when you're likely to know?
Hang in there hon xx

Not wimpy at all Kwilter. You shouldn't have to go into work after that!
Room for another on the sofa?
Kwilter, a friend sent me this - its yarn porn.
