A wonderful race. Very well organised. I was lucky and saw the flasher, as well as boyfriend who then came out in his underpants - very funny. Will certaininly do run again. Incline out of tunnel not as bad as I expected. Although not hot I still enjoyed being hosed down by firemen at Wallasey Town Hall.
Only complaint is Merseyrail. My supporters got the train from Moorfields to New Brighton. However on getting to Birkenhead they were told to get off the train as the driver was taking a break and his replacement had not turned up. My wife is in a wheelchair and another friend made such a fuss Merseyrail arranged for a taxi to take to New Brighton at no charge and they got there about 10 minutes before I finshed. Coming back a very helpful Merseyrail man at New Brighton made sure we got on a train quickly seeing my wife was disabled.
It was my first 10k on Sunday, couldn't have asked for a better challenge to start with. I'd done a few shorter events including the 5 mile trail race on Formby beach a few weeks back but nothing beats being in a field of over 2,000 runners all charging towards the tunnel. Many apologies if I nearly pulled one of the water-bottle helpers down as I grabbed one at the last minute - you were certainly better prepared for it than I was!
Anyhow, I travelled down from Formby station with three people and shared a lift back with them, so many thanks to them and their driver for saving me from having to scrap for a place on the trains back, and also for teaching me a few shortcuts on how to get back from Liverpool myself!
Is anyone from Formby on the forum? And in particular, anyone from Formby who travelled down with me to run the Mersey Tunnel race? I know at least one of you were up for doing a few more races and even creating a new team. PM me if you're on the forum and are still interested.
Had a fab time and didn't even argue with the misses !! Lovely weather. nice quiet campsite. Can't wait for the next one now. Mind you - it was a bit windy in the night (oops - all those beans!!
I will be back for more of the tunnel 10K next year but am swapping threads now so it has been nice to hear & meet some of you and only 51 weeks untill next year's run.

(Event Organiser if you weren't aware)
I swear it wasn't me.... (despite what I said about showing my arse in M&S window if UK got any points in the Eurovision)
And sex god extraordinaire...
(Well you said you were sleeping)

Keep.........RUNNING!
I can't do the 10K. It clashes with the NB English Half.
There are only so many weekends in a year I suppose....
Alan - I'll be in the shop later! Want anything from Greggs?
Have any of the guys tried out the anti-ageing moisturiser from the goody bag? I now look ten years younger - thanks Alan!
Wish I'd read that earlier. Guess when I showed up? I thought it was a bit quiet!
I DID get a lovely Liverpool T-shirt next door though I thought about getting YOU one but I didn't think you'd appreciate it much!
I'm back from my camping trip in Sunny Wales.
