Maam - ummmm if you paid for it you should still ask them to send it to you

No girlies going club run tonight so I think rather than risk the icy pavements of the village it will have to be the dready tready imageimage

snow flurries here at the mo and loads forecast for tomorrow image

hey hey - so i will be running at silverstone but I had to do the charity place - a bit of a shame as i plan on doing a marathon next couple of years and hate to keep asking people for their hard earned cash.

    However, i will be running.

Maam thanks so much for trying.  I think next time I wouldn't bother doing things above board - the money grabbing, lazy administrating adidas marathon staff!  I mean really - there was plenty of time for them to transfer a place, then when I said about me registering for a place in the knowledge that Maam could not run they simply said that they over book people to run their events anyway, as they know people will drop out.  So they're just a money making machine!! so disappointing.

    shameful organisers!!!!

However, we shall move on!  snow like crazy here and we always get it last of the country!  No run today but did a 4 mile walk in my snow boots instead image

This snow has proper messed up my running and record breaking mileage image I am having to use the treadmill all the time and as you know I am not keen image I actually did nearly 6 miles on it on friday which is a record tready run for me image I cant see any let up either until the weekend when its suppose to rain image no running club either as its been way to icy image I may still be able to break my best mileage ever month of 81 but getting to the 100 now is prob not likely image maybe February will be kind to me

Hope you are all coping well with the snow, I have to say the weekend was awesome, Me, OH and Mother were all sledging, I loved it and felt like a kid again image

ha ha - brilliant.  i've been away and still am, with work on training. its at a de vere hotel in middle of nowhere with only some dark lanes to run on or full on main roads.  I did a really boring route up and down one road 4 times the other evening but it was snowing quite heavy and it was dark so it was not ideal.

Tomorrow i go home again and then on sunday I have a race (only a little un) but the forecast is..... heavy rain. beejeezus! talk about manky weather. I don't mind rain, snow is pretty but in future, can it only land on the grass and not on pavements or roads - far too treacherous.

    Hi all,

Just got home from job interview, find out outcome next week hopefully.  Train disruptions haven't made it feel good.

Still no running, but back at physio tomorrow.  Hoping that I might be able to do Port Sunlight 10k in May again, be good comeback since was not long after that I did my knee in image

Good luck with your running guys, sounds like you are getting on.

How are the men doing, they seem to be quiet!

Hi All. Haven't been on in a while so hope you all keeping well. Lots been happening with work and things.

Big news is I need glasses - yes managed to make it to almost 43 without them but now I've had to admit I need help. Taken ages to choose some too but finally did it. Not without arguing with Mrs S about what suits me best though. HaHa! Only we could have a domestic in Boots on a Sat afternoon! image

New office manager started at work and guess what she's a mad keen runner which is always good. She is running Silverstone too.

My boy scored a couple in the u9s quarter final last week to help the team through to the semis. It was a brilliant game and the Dads all got a bit excited on the touch line. Better than the champions league final for entertainment!

We are at England Brazil game in 2 weeks and then it's our annual pilgrimage to Anfield to watch Swansea. Can't wait. Seats in Kop this time Stripes so may see you there!

As for running well I'm back on it and feeling keener than ever! Tready runs every night for last week until i came down with a heavy cold yesterday. I may even run outside next week. It'll be the first time in months but I can't wait. Next I'm going to enter a half - possibly Reading again with a few of the running Dads.

Anyway hope you are all well, happy and healthy.

Oh Booey need to talk to you about arthritis! My fingers and thumbs have been terrible for weeks now and I don't know what to do about it?!? Didn't you find some magic tabs?

Blimey that was a long one! image

Silver - glad to hear you are getting on well.

Depends on the type of arthritis as to what treatment, and also how bad. I suggest you see a Dr x

  • Options
It's aching fingers that are really stiff in the morning Maam. I can't grip stuff properly until my hands are warmed up. Sometimes when I wake in the night my hands are throbbing too. Reckon I do need to see a doc as I've had it a few months now. I never trust GPs on these things though. If you look healthy and your life's not in danger they are just not bothered.

How are you feeling now? Is the knee healing? I still haven't caught up so I'm not sure what everyone's been up to!

Did a five mile race today - chatted all the way round and really enjoyed the social aspect of this one....

84 for the month so behind on schedule but what with the treacherous conditions, i'm not beating myself up about it....

Good to hear your news Silver - made me laugh about the domestic in boots - well done!  Where is stripes?  is he ok?

Well done on the run Em

Silver - def go see Dr, problem with arthritis is that they can't always fully tell.  Blood test negative but can still have etc. That is what I went through, symptoms can be quite simular too. My aunt has rhumatoid, but dad and I have osteo and we struggle in the same ways, just the treatment and longer term outlook can be different due to different area of joint affected. Best to get properly looked at and is likely to end up with referal to specialist.

As for my knee, it isn't doing great at the moment, it is locking again without fully straightening. Physio cautious about it, but I'm doing what I can. Can't wait to run and more so where heals again, just bought some new boots! As for the rest of me, wrist still giving me grief, but not quite as bad thankfully, but over use of left hand is bringing back my RSI.  I'm planning on trip to Dr on Wed to discuss my meds and see if anything can be done.

Keeping chin up but it is hard when always feeling knocked back. Not even diving a the moment so feeling flat, but you know me, keep smiling and plodding on image

Have a great weekend everyone xxx

Well after all that snow and never ending treadmill runs its great to be running back outdoors. I realised all over again how lovely the fresh air is even in the rain and getting wet feet image

Silver - I will try and keep it short - I have Rheumatoid Arthritis - it started in my hands, very stiff in the morning image (no sniggering) aching and difficult to grip and open tops off things.  I then started getting it in my shoulders, very difficult to lift my arms in the air then it started in my knees, getting out of bed and walking down stairs in the morning I was like an 80 year old image not good (common with rheumatoid to jump around the body).  I went to the doctors maybe 3 times over a period of maybe a year, always doing blood tests (its common knowledge that blood tests are highly unlikely to pick it up) eventually I was referrred to the early arthritis clinic at the hospital.  They were great from then on and I had hand scans etc and was properly diagnosed.  I had a steriod injection first to give me instant relief which it did, I dont recommend it though as I still have a massive dent in my bottom from it image dont ask lol then I started meds.  Methotrexate and folic acid tablets once a week and hyroxy every day (all persciption) the methotrex didnt suit me by tablet, I was very nauseous so I started having it injected once a week.  I had to go the hospital for that until now, they have rolled out so people can do their own at home which suits me much better.

Sorry its so long hehe basically the meds have been ace I feel cured and realise how bad I was before BUT I do hate taking any form of meds so taking some getting use to.

Its abit of a long process getting to the end result but if you are struggling then get to your Dr and at least get it on file you are having probs, then keep going until your referred.

If you dont have arthritis ignore the above hahahaahahahahahahaaha image

    Hello.... Anyone out there!!!!

  • Options

I'm here.  At a work event in Killarney, Ireland and surviving (or not) on 3 hours sleep.... not because i'm a party animal but because we have to share rooms and I could not sleep as the girl i'm sharing with went out last night so no sleep until 3am.  then up at 6 for a run. so so tired.

hotel food not anything I can digest either so i'm surviving on jaffa cakes, bread rolls and cheese twists without any dips.  so miserable - just want to be at home with my man!!!

  • Options

mmmm jaffa cakes image  Sorry not going great for you, but you'll be home soon and get to catch up on sleep and ... with you OH image

I'm plodding along, just wondering how everyone is doing, seems very very very quiet on here! image

Hi Maam - so its a bit quiet round here eh?  I was away in Ireland last week with work and am away for the next fortnight with work (big intensive pass/fail training course) then its the silverstone half marathon.  Next year Maam - we'll all be there next year!!!

Managed 5.5 this morning in the cold after a disappointing run free day yesterday (work got too busy and I didn't make it out).  No pancakes either but I picked up a pancake mix at lunchtime.  I can never make pancakes.  Even with a mix i ballsed it up last year!

So how is everyone.  Do we need to send out a search party?
Booey - how's your training for silverstone coming along?

Tripes / Stewart C - did you two go off somewhere hot together?  and Silver - how's the running with juggling the kids going?

Mal....?  Are you ok?  how's your super hectic life treating you?

Everyone else ok?  I just saw some tumbleweed and there's some western movie music playing...........

  • Options

Em - glad to know that there is still life out there.

I'm feeling fed up, physio has now ran out of ideas as to how to get knee going, had steroid injection in wrist which if doesn't work means referal for surgery, oh and to top it off referral to rhumoid arthritis specialst.  Can today get much worse???

Even with all that trying to feel upbeat and walking some more image

Search party ordered for our missing folks!!!

    Hello I am here image

Silverstone training going well apart from the stupid weather keep getting in the way, the treadmill has come in mighty handy to be honest although very boring image

Hows yours going Em, you looking forward to it....any ideas on time your hoping for....better than last year or a specific time??

Maam - am feeling for you so much, you really are having a rough time ah image and well overdue some luck to get these problems sorted once and for all

  • Options

Boo - glad you are ok and that the training is going as well as it can with the weather.

I'm in desperate need of good luck, but time will tell image

Good to hear from you xxx

  • Options

hey hey - 2 people out there image

Maam - you've always remained so positive - don't stop now. You'll come out smelling of roses!!! or running past them!!!

Booey - not really thought about a time.  It can't go any worse than last year for me - upset tum, toilet stops, too hot and stripping off layers as it was so bloody hot!  If the 10 mile GSR is anything to go by then I should the half in about 2 hour 10 but i've got this residential course the next 2 weeks and i've not got my long sunday run mileage up enough yet. However, I run often and i'm not worried about completing it.  I'll prob find the last mile or so pretty hard core.

Should we meet up before hand?  or keep an eye out for each other?  maybe we could find a pacer at the start and say hi there (so loiter near the 10 min mile lollipop or something) x

  • Options

Em - if I was to be honest I am aiming for 2.10, last year it was my first HM and did it in 2.22 and I suffered as you say with the heat.  Then my second HM in September was 2.18 which I was pretty disappointed in.

My aim over the coming couple of years is to do a sub 2 hr HM image not sure if its achievable but its great to have goals image and kindof my reckoning with thinking, just thinking image about maybe a full mara if I ever achieve it.

Would be great for us to at least say hello and maybe the pacer lolipop person would be a good idea image I think OH and Mum are coming along to cheer me on haha bless them will arrange near the time with you

Oh BTW my pack came yesterday and my number is 930 I think image

  • Options

Good luck to you both, wish I was with you.

Only 7 months today till GNR this year and I'm still not able to train image Fingers crossed can get there, even if means walking x

  • Options

Thanks Maam, I cant even begin to imagine what its like to be out of action for so long image I really do hope things work out good for you image

We are looking after a friends dog at the moment so I have been running and walking all weekend image really loved it although we were all shattered last night hehe I was up early this morning to take her over the fields image

My running mileage is suffering to be honest, not done a LSR for a while image Silverstone a week on sunday so not much chance now.  I feel fine about it as I know I can do it but I would have liked to have got a half decent time and am not so sure now image also for some very strange reason my weight has gone up image I feel great though image

Hi All sorry Ive not been around but work just got manic a few months back and it's been relentless ever since. Spend most my evenings at it too.

Runnings been almost none existent as I did my back in a couple of weeks back and have barely been able to walk let alone run. Believe it or not I had to virtually crawl into A and E on Sunday pm with tears in my eyes as the pain was horrendous. A sign of getting older and being less fit I guess.

I've also got to wear glasses as my eyesights gone downhill! I'm falling apart!

I have every good intention of getting back on it as soon as my backs better but I can't see that being for a few weeks. For now Ill just enjoy the Diazapan!!

Hope you are all well Ill have a read through the posts later. Has anyone completed a marathon yet?

By the way out new office manager is running Silverstone next week so Ill get the race report on Mondsy morning! Good luck.

Silver - Welcome back, sorry to hear that your back isn't doing good for you. Just take it easy and get yourself well before you get back to training, and try not to get frustrated - believe me it doesn't help image
