Zzz, No running yet and really paranoid about going near a set of scales. I tried some electro-therapy on my hamstring but this seems to have made matters worse, so probably going to have to rest it for another week at least:-(
Wrinty, I have to agree with Glugg, I tore a calf muscle 6 weeks before the Bristol Half. A mixture of aggresive massage, ultrasound and accupunture (plus a sympathetic physio, with an understanding that we need to train), got me back to fitness in 4 weeks! Are you in the South West? If you like I can e-mail you her details. Stace.
Keep meaning to book up for a deep tissue massage (even got a good friend who will do it cheap for me.) That will be my new years resolution, to go for painful massages at least once a month! I am a great believer in all the alternative therapies. For several years was having reflexology regularly for carpal tunnel, found it helped no end.
Stace, I am in the village of Shaw which is about ten miles from Bath (in between Melksham & Corsham). If you could fire over the details, I can pursue them if nothing has improved by the end of the week.
Training well and truely started. Thought I had driven a 11.5mile route to do yesterday, to increase long run from 10mile. Took me longer than I expected to complete and was struggling at end. Couldn't believe it was only 11.5 and when I drove it again (setting clock to 0, instead of making mental note) discovered it was 12.4miles, no wonder I was struggling!! God were my knees aching for the next 24hours!
Wrinty, Is the Knee pain in the same leg as the Hamsrting problem. If so it may be related? Why dont you miss out a training session and see how it is on the next one? Stace.
After a week back running the niggles continue: First my left hamstring, then my left knee, then my left ankle, now a couple blisters on my left foot. I think that I may be winning, I just hope that the injuries decide not to travel back up my right leg:-)
Glugg-wasn't panicing, honest. Pleased to hear the training is going well. You profile must need updating glugg, as there is no way you can be overweight and under tainined with your expected time!!!

Well I think you owe me one Glugg after that compliment, so yes, I'm sure my mates and I will be keen to partake of some liquid refreshment after the easy jog around bath;-)
Not being a connoisseur of beers (dry wine being my tipple) I take it abbey's is a ale? I always prefer a bitter shandy to a lager shandy (the s word there is probably a swear word to you beer drinkers!)
A pub in the Good Beer Guide called Lambrettas Bar on North Parade might be O.K. Its close to the finish and the bus/train stations and does food. Any other ideas?.

Drew up my training programme and had a drive around to map out next long run, 11 miles. How's everyone elses training going?

I've had a good week and seem to be back to where I was before I got a bug at christmas.
When again are we due to get our numbers? Thought it was this month.

Spoke to two of the runners doing the bath half with me and they are keen to stop. Anyone recommend a good pub near the finish?
