It was. A real 'here and now' moment, we did say several times on the way round how wonderful it was. But you surprise me glugg as we didn't mention stopping for a beer after (just a lukewarm cup of coffee!)
I think next year I will do the forest of dean half instead of bath (it's only the week before bath this year.)
Spent many an hour in the cherry tree as a child playing dominos (it was my great uncles local, all my mum's family were born and bred in tintern.) In those days it was a very small pub, about the size of an average living room! Has been extended since though. Can't believe they have a website, and did you know that they are the only pub in Wales to be recommended, by the Camra real ale guide for 32 years continuously. That deserves a trip to tintern glugg for one of my clubs races, see website- www.chepstowharriers.org !!!
Did a hilly ten around Westbury in a shade under seventy minutes, but it felt like very hard work. I probably still have a little bit of the lurgy lurking deep inside my body.
Been going for regular chiro for about 4 years now, it helps for a short while but I find accupuncture better. Have had back problems for years, brother and mum suffer same. It must be in our genes!. Glad your club dinner went well, much dancing on tables?.
Dancing on the tables, walls, ceilings...... To be honest the disco was rather crap, mostly those collections of songs and hardly any modern pop songs. Us ladies danced anyway and watched one of the guys who was wearing a kilt dancing madly in the hope that we would find out whether he was a true scotsman!!
If anyone is looking for a place - apparently the Guide Dogs have a number of places which they are desperate to fill - waiving the registration fees etc.
Back from a week's medium height altitude training in Le Corbier (1550m) with no injuries. Legs a bit heavy so will go for a gentle run tonight and start the seious traing for Bath this week.
M-is that the first time you have done altitude training?
I've been really pleased with how my training has been going, which showed in my race yesterday, flat lliswerry 8miles in 74mins(last september, my first 10k I did in 71mins.) Last tuesday though in club speed session pushed it very hard and have had a stiff right leg since. There is a 4mile time trial tomorrow night but think I will need to pass on that and just do an easy run.
Sorry if this has already been discussed (haven't got time to plough back through 15 pages worth of posts)....
Has anyone else noticed that the free T-Shirts have been dropped this year? Now, I have no issue with this in principle (the quality of shirt last year was sh1t), but I do not see a corresponding reduction in the race fee..... Looks like a Gordon Brown-esque stealth tax, and a pretty steep one too when you consider the cheapest t-shirt available through the race merchandiser is £13.
Have they? Hadn't really noticed to be honest. That is a bit naughty. Its not a cheap run. I am going cos I fancy a nice weekend in Bath so don't care too much...
still...never nice feeling you are being ripped off. I still shudder at the memory of the year I did the British 10k....
.......... smacks a little of the organiser milking it for all its worth. As long as the race fills up each year they'll keep turning the screw (so to speak). I know a lot of the money goes to charity, but it would be interesting to know what the salaries of the paid staff are, come to that it would be interesting to see detailed accounts for the event as a whole.
I also fancy the forest of dean (although no t-shirt there either) for next year. We ran the course as a training run a couple of weeks ago and it is a beautiful course(especially as we had snow in some parts.) With Bath I was disappointed to hear we wouldn't be running through the famous crescent and why not?

Pleased to hear it wrinty.
Have we got to start talking about beer again to get everyone writing on this thread!
Any of you done Offa's Orror, race organised by my running club, and can tell me the recommended beer for tintern?
Drags guilty backside out of the door into the rain.
Cherry Tree Inn. thecherry.co.uk
Wye Valley Hotel. wyevalleyhotel.co.uk
Bottoms up!
What beer do they recommend though Glugg?
7 weeks to go guys, hows the training going?
Glugg-have you ever been to see a chiro for the sciatica, it's what sorted my hubby's out?
Wrinty-10miles in under seventy sounds impressive to me, but then I was very happy with flat eight miles in 74mins today.

I think you are right though Moe- more cash disappearing into someone's pockets. Think I'll do forest of dean next year....
