I've just completed my online entry and thought I would pop in and say Hi.
I've only been a thread 'reader' for my last few events and thought it's about time I joined up so that I could post as well.
Can someone confirm that there will definitely be a medal for this one?
I have absoloutley no chance of ever getting a position medal, I'm happy coming in the top 50% in a marathon, so count on an entry medal to hang on my bookshelf.
Just been reading some of the posts thought I should join in, I'm really looking forward to this marathon again on home soil!
Cinders, I put off joining the Thanet Roadrunners for ages and I now really wish I hadn't put it off, it was the best thing I ever did. Hope to see you out on a club run sometime.
Yippee wil the T-shirts be bright yellow again (ORR colours!)
The last two years shirts have been great.
Welcome to all the new forumites who are joingin us. Its great to see new faces and it will also help to build up the momentum and interest in the event. The more of us that post the more others will join and therefore the less any of may have to spend alone.
It also helps to have others to talk to pre and post race and to relive the experiance (after all our families are probably already sick of the sound of us going on about our training high's and lows... or is it just mine?
i'm in - never been one to turn down a freebie - i've sent in my thanet 20 voucher and am raring to go...sort of. Can't be any worse than my ND30K i vote for yellow
Yellow is good, especially if its florescent and made from either silk or that nice wicking material... after all who wants another cotton T-shirt when you can wear your wick one with pride.
A towel would also be nice for those nice long runs.
But actually it's a fair point - I can never understand why cycling-style tops with elasticated pockets in the back aren't developed for running use.
Much handier for storage for long races than belts, and less bouncing about and rubbing. In fact I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't work for runners. Any ideas?
Ronnie . . grateful and relieved though I am to learn that you weren't staring at my rear end during the Halstead Marathon . . I wear these on my long runs and races . .
I still use a belt to carry gels but I use the pockets for my car key, a pair of gloves, a small tin of vaseline and to carry the empty gel packets . .
they're really useful and comfy too . . and the colours are much more cheerful than the dull grey/blue/black shorts that seem to be almost universal in the UK . . bit of a nuisance having to import them from the States (and I got stung for duty too) is the only downside . .
djb . . thanks for the suggestion about how I could get shots of the start and the two finishes . . however I'm going to be a little pre-occupied as I'm running the marathon!! I'll carry my camera with me as always (unless it's pouring) and take photo's before and during the race . . afterwards depends on how I feel . .
so . . Pantman . . if you're doing the half . . you'll be finished long before me as I'm doing the full . . therefore I'll not be able to photograph you as you finish . . but if I see you before the start then I'll record the moment!!
I bought a pair of shorts with big mesh pockets at the back from NYC expo, but if i put stuff in back pockets, it feels as if the shorts are being pulled down at the back. Don't like the idea of pulling a moony on a sunday morning. Still lioke the shorts though, with a bit of a loud pattern

Have you emailed vouchers@thanetroadrunners.org.uk?
If you haven't do that first off. If you haven't heard anything by this weekend email me and I'll look into it
