Shuffles and walks completed.  How did the baking go?  Have you managed out running?

What has happened to the boys?

Hi Speedy.G  I looked at this thread because of the title! And then saw the date it started...

Like you were all those years back, I was, until last summer, fit if not svelte.  Regularly running (slowly) 5k+, and several 10k/10m events.  Then I got a series of injuries, and then stopped going to the gym.  Since then I've put on almost 4 stone (I'm very embarrassed to write that...), have plantar fasciitis in both feet, and have a damaged tendon in my wrist.  I strongly suspect my weight isn't helping the PF, but it's very difficult to exercise on days when it literally hurts just to walk a few steps.  I am heading towards 50 in 18mths time, and I don't want to be where I am now at that point.  I shopped this morning for a controlled eating week, and am going to really work to see if I can drop the weight.  I'm trying to walk - but too much triggers the PF - and also to cycle and do some weight work as I have some weight and a step and mat at home.

Could do with some motivation by hearing how others who have been where I am now have got on.  I've had the PF since June, have had it properly diagnosed, and am doing the exercises etc.  Should have gone back to the docs, but haven't as don't want cortisone injections.  But it is all a bit miserable!

Anyway, please let me know how you got on, going from being overweight to running a marathon!

    Thanks.

    Hi Anne.
Sorry to hear about your injuries - but good luck with the controlled eating this week.
On the subject of PF... if it's not getting better, don't ignore it. I have and I'm down from comfortable half marathon distance to absolute zilch and constant pain. If you want to regain your fitness sort the PF out.

Morning Speedy. How's the shuffling going?

Evening. How are you Limper? Have you managed out to run? Done any baking this week?

    Hello Anne. How are you?

    Hi Speedy

I've been rolling a frozen water bottle under my feet for my PF, and am seeing a orthotics specialist at the end of next week.  Hopefully that will help with the PF overall.  So far this week my eating has remained controlled!  Taking it one day at a time as an extremely stressful week to date at work made me crave carbs ferociously, but so far I've managed to avoid giving in!

    Evening girls.

I'm just back from outer space (no internet for days).

Speedy - I can't really run at all now. I'm pretty grumpy about it TBH. You know what it's like when little injuries turn into big problems. Hopefully it'll all get magically better soon. Meanwhile I am getting fatter by the day (because I don't have the will-power to do controlled eating!).

Evening.  Glad you have your internet back limper.  What treatment are you getting for your injury?  It had been going on for sometime hasn't it?  Hope you get better soon.   I know what you mean about no will power for controlled eating.  It is hard.

We are just back from 4 days Iin the borders.   Lots of walking done but no shuffling.  My knees wouldn't let me.  They and my hip didn't let me sleep much either.

Have the boys deserted us now then Limper.  They haven't been here for some time now.

Sorry to hear your hip and knee are troubling you so much Speedy. Well done for your walking though.
I'm not even walking far at present. It's shocking how fast my muscle tone is dropping away. I'm reviewing treatment options this week as the choices I've made so far have clearly not been effective.

I suspect the boys are taking a little break. You know how life is sometimes.

Evening. Sorry been quiet. Been really busy what with work, school runs and child minding.

Have you decided on other form of treatment yet Limper?

Well I have done it. Been out plodding and entered a 10k on Sunday. Only reason doing it is the half starts at the same time and hubby is doing it. So I know I will be last in the 10k but hubby will be in after me in the half image

    Hope the boys are ok.

I wasn't  last in the 10k.  2 people behind me.  Was a very windy day.  Enjoyed it though.

On holiday  in the borders  this week but weather horrible.

    Hope you are ok Limper.

Well done Speedy!! Glad you enjoyed the 10k.
It wouldn't matter if you were 'last', you still beat everybody who didn't do it.
Hope the weather clears up for the rest of your week.

Thanks Limper.  Rain and wind has been horrendous.   Caravan site flooded as is road outside as river  burst its banks.  Stopped raining now so hopefully dry out soon.

I think your rain has finally reached me Speedy.

Another weekend almost over.  No shuffling done but 2 x 5 miles walked plus an 8 miler so I haven't been lazy.

    How are you Limped?

Sadly 2 deaths at work last week.  Two women both in their forties and both had cancer.  Also the partner of my walking buddy died of cancer.  He was 62.  All in all a sad week.

Hi Limper if you are still out there.

It looks like after nearly 11 years this thread has come to an end. It used to be a busy thread but over the years everyone has slowly disappeared. I think a lot have left the forums.

Speedy is sad but I have enjoyed my time here and made some lovely friends.

I will pop in again in a few days to see if anyone is around.

It does seem as though 'Too Fat' has fizzled out doesn't Speedy. It was a friendly and fun place over the years and I'm sorry to see it go - but the two of us infrequently posting do not make a sustainable thread!
You know where to find me in the real world if you need me.

... turns off the lights ...

Sadly The Too Fat to Run room has now closed.  Speedy sheds some tears.
