Hello guys! Thought I might find some of the "Nike 10k gang" on here. Yes, I know I'm being extremely dense, but can someone explain what a mob match is.....
It's when the total number of runners from one club exceeds the total number from another club
This usually happens on designated days and sometimes in races, in the mob match events that Stragglers do against 26.2 it seems everyone counts including animals, marshalls welsh people etc.
These individual mob matches have a character all of their own and ours takes place twice a year, but other 'proper' clubs have lots of them and with lots of other clubs involved. Anyway there's usally a bit of grub and booze on offer
Doylie the Strugglers are going to have to field a few more people to beat the Allsorts the way things are at present. Anyway, it's my race so I decide who wins ) and after Xmas well......
I don't know where the best post race celebration place is but I do know there's a pub between the start in the CWoA car park and the garden centre on the side of the road away from the finish. So it's close, if nothing else!
If you wanted to slug it back to Surbiton you could join the weary race organisers at the Surbition Racket & Fitness club, Berrylands. We'll be in the sauna, err I meant bar.
Just went to enter this on line only to find on line entry is not available,to late to enter by post so i will have to take my chances on the day B****R.
number3 you'll be fine entering on the day. If you could arrive at race hq a bit before 09.30 that would be great! If you download and fill in the form before you come that would save lots of time. Pegs gave the link above (lovely lad).
700+ and then there's entries on day to come. I suppose there might be a few late postal entries on my doormat tonight when I get home too. They'd better have enclosed saes.
At the risk of sounding like an anorak does anyone know the course profile, like which bits is quick and which bits is slow, and when to expect more than the usual amount of pain etc.
Doylie, if you go to http://www.26point2.co.uk/26point2/ then look for the little racing cherub down the left hand side. Click on race info, scroll down a bit and go to Valentine's 10k downloads area (no I haven't got time to find out how to do those linky things just at this moment) and you should then be able to download a "10k course map and altitude profile" pdf document.
JaneE2, I think you'll find the course mildly undulating, but not in the Himalayan sense :-)
thank god for that i dont want to work to hard on my birthday especially if im still drunk from the night before saying that i will not feel the pain to much if im hung over
That's it Jane, numbness to pain is the way forward.
Thanks Womble got that now, looks fairly even for the first 2 k then uphill until 3.5Km and a lovely down hill section from then until around 7.5-8km with a mild upward slope until the end
Womble compliments for the web site just had a look really liked the map showing how the course goes up and down im not very techniqal so i dont know what its called but it was good anyway
Hello people - lkg fwd to Sun in Chessington - just not sure I can cope with ANY inclines wotsoever after Watford½M yesterday. I'll deffo be walking any up hills.
Looking forward to this too, though with a 40 mile + week planned for me (it has to be done after a weekend fuelled by Belgian beer and chocolate), including a 15-17 mile run on Saturday, I will be taking this easy, and will watch your back for a short while, D, until you disappear gracefully into the distance….;-)

Guy where are you, get on the case, it's getting one sided here, my 'fuller' figure is being spotlighted.
Probably explains why the idea of belgian chocolate and beer appeals to me more than long days of many miles
